    I note there's yet another build of TI8 been released - 903.

I'm still running 826, because of the failings in 859, and the failure of 889 to boot on my machine. On the latter, I'm still waiting for a response from tech support.

Now there's 903. Should I install it and see if it fixes things, or wait until I get a response from TS?

I ask the question because the description given of the updates is useless, eg "Better hardware support".

Acronis is to be congratulated for continuing the development of TI8, but not for pushiong out new releases without proper testing, eg 859, nor for failing to tell us what they've fixed in specific detail. I would prefer a slower rate of new releases, which do not break the program. Am I alone in this?

Problem is, I've wasted hours (literally) on the last two builds, installing, testing and providing information to tech support. I'm reluctant to start another round until they've answered on the last one and, as I've pointed out to them, I'm not a beta-tester, I'm a paid-up user.

I'll test when they give me an answer on 889.

    Hello Rik Bean,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Please update your copy of Acronis True Image 8.0 to the 903 build. In order to get access to updates you should register account on our site (or just log in if you have already created it) and then register your copy of the product. And see whether the problem persists, also please let me know your Acronis request # which was sent to you in autoreply? I will find out the reason for the delay.

    Thank you.

All boot CDs after build 800 failed on my computer so it was a pleasant surprise to find that the boot CD for build 903 worked. After burning the boot CD I tested it to the point where you click on 'Proceed' to do a restore and it worked fine so I booted into Windows, made an image and again used the boot CD to see if I could successfully restore the image I had just made.

Unfortunately this time when I used the build 903 boot CD my cordless mouse icon disappeared and the same happened when I tried again but the third time I tried the mouse icon did not disappear and I successfully restored the image. The build 903 boot CD still does not work as well as my trusty build 774 boot CD but it's a major improvement on the build 826, 859 and 889 boot CDs which were useless with my computer. However since my cordless mouse is always seen (provided I install the Logitech cordless mouse software in Windows) when I use the build 774 boot CD wether or not it appears when using the build 903 boot CD should not be a lottery requiring 3 attempts before it worked.

I must say that an error message that came up was hilarious. The second time I tried the boot CD I thought I would see if my other Logitech cordless mouse was seen and the 2 cordless mice sitting side by side must have confused Acronis and a message came up on the screen that started with ‘Aiee!’ and other words to indicate that a major problem had occurred.

    Hi Irina

    The number was [Acronis #308102].

You will understand that, having spent several hours on installing, testing and troubleshooting builds 859 and 889, I am reluctant to start the cycle again with 903 unless I have a reasonable expectation that it will work. When a build doesn't work, Tech Support want so much information that it takes an age to collect - send them one piece and they ask for another - and as I have pointed out to them, I'm not a beta tester, I'm a paid-up customer. In any case, I cannot get the Acronis sysinfo report from my system as the Linux kernel doesn't like my keyboard and won't allow me to type in the required commands to do the floppy dump.

    Hello Rik Bean,

Please accept my apologies for your inconvenience.

Could you please clarify your situation? You use the 889 build of Acronis True Image, and using the full command line of: 'quiet acpi=off noapic ide-scsi=off', you can boot from CD, am I correct?

    Thank you.

That's correct, Irina. Previously, I had used 'quiet acpi=off noapic' with build 826 and earlier. I picked up the ide-scsi=off from a message posted in the forum, and figured it was worth a try.

Further to my previous comment about the 903 boot CD and the mouse cursor being missing I've used the boot CD a few more times and it has worked properly every time. Build 903 of Acronis looks pretty good to me.
