    Hi Rilla,

You may want to take a look at this thread regarding RegDefend and Adwatch. From my read of things, the two may be conflicting in behavior and one may be undermining the other since RegDefend blocks a change and Ad-watch allows a change and then tries to undo it (though both apparently use hooking). I remember Ad-watch driving my system crazy because it was undoing stuff that I was allowing. Sometimes too many programs monitoring the same actions can cause unpredictable behavior.

    It's an interesting read.

 I ran a Ad-Aware scan and it found a Critical Windows Object and when I went to delete the stuff it wouldn't do anything.

Now Ad-Aware, Ad-Watch, Pest Patrol doesn't work since I installed RegDefend.

What can I do to fix this?

you can see in your Regdefend Logging Screen what is going on. locate the last lines in your log (the ones where you can see Adaware and PP)

Search the Registry Entry in RegDefends main panel (probably autostart, but the programs should work!!!) and add the program.

I think that this is related to pg and not to rd.

    Hi Rilla,

I am using Ad-aware without any problems alongside PG and RegDefend. If indeed you believe that one of these programs are blocking Ad-aware, you can temporarily disable them (one at a time) and see where the interference is coming from.

Since Ad-watch heavily overlaps RegDefend, you may want to stop using RegDefend and just stay with Ad-watch (if that is your program of choice). I believe there are too many conflicts between the two and you will experience too many unexpected events as these conflicts arise. The are both hooking the registry but blocking in different ways. It's sort of like fingers pointing in opposite directions. Confusion will reign. :)

I do not understand why Pest Patrol is having problems, but if an alert screen does come up, then you can give it permission to do anything it wants using RegDefend overrides. Also, you may want to look at PG's logs to see if it is preventing Pest Patrol from doing something. I agree with Infinity, these seem more like PG doing something that is blocking Ad-aware or Pest Patrol.

Just add Ad-watch to the application permission overrides should solve all your problems.

No it's Regdefend. It is interesting, apparantly you need to allow Pest Patrol to put registry entries for startingup, otherwise it will refuse to the run.

Strangely enough, now it's completely broken, even if i put it into the application overrides.

Error is "Registryexception. Unable to set value for ..."

    Sure sounds like Regdefend

yes, it is interesting as that shouldn't happen :) that's a serious bug or it's constructed that way :) but I find it strange.

so Rilla has it's answer... thanx james.

Thanks, Blackspear, but you didn't answer ALL of the question. ;) Will I be just as defended if I switch off RegDefend and left TeaTimer running?

And what are the experiences of others with TeaTimer? (There doesn't seem to be a more appropriate place for this question.)

don't worry, I have every intention of using RegDefend, but I'm thinking of switching it to my laptop, instead of my workstation. Or, if the feedback points that way, buying a second copy of RegDefend. But I'm really interested in knowing if I can improve my protection by keeping BOTH running, and what I have to do to facilitate that.

No, as far as I am aware TeaTimer uses "Polling", whereas RegDefend blocks all changes and asks for intervention at the kernal level.

Having both running becomes annoying as there are multiple popups, you would only need one, otherwise you end up with an overlap in defences.

    Cheers :D

The other bonus is RegDefend is customizable/user defined, where as Tea-Timer only watches a predetermined set.
