If you are using a previous version you can simply upgrade to the refreshed version. The version number of the refreshed version is 1.0.509. To check the version number, click About Microsoft AntiSpyware… on the Help menu.

    Look here

Wonderful, wonderful Microsoft. After closing down MSAS beta 1 I installed the file which I had downloaded from the MS web site and lo and behold, I now have MSAS beta 1.

I know the build has increased from .509 to .613 but would it have been so difficult to change it to beta 2? Well, beta 3 actually since we've already had two beta 1 releases.

What is it with Microsoft and insisting on causing mass confusion? Are numbers in such short supply in Seattle that they weren't allowed to change beta 1 to a higher number, like everyone else that releases beta software does?

    Sheesh.

That would most probably require a board meeting to change numbers :D

Do I need to uninstall the first one or can I download the new beta over the top. I thought that the software update would upgrade automatically, been trying for a few days with no joy

I did my install over the top, then a reboot was needed to finish the install. I had no problems at all doing it this way.

Another thing I would like to mention. I have a very large HOSTS file. 1.99 meg with 69,834 entries. It causes the on demand scan to hang on my system. For a workaround I rename the HOSTS file to do the scan and then rename it to the original after the scan is completed.

    Hi Folks

How do I get the latest MSAS version 1.0.614?

Each time I downloaded from Microsoft site and other sites I get 1.0.613.

Any idea what have gone wrong?

    Cheers

    Chew
