I've done that as well. Clearly some minor issues there to be addressed going through the beta releases to come....

You only have disable port 80 in the networksettings (in Kav). :)

I had some problems with web pages not loading also with KIS 6 beta (grs.com, pc flank, my yahoo). I didn't realize it was do to the HTTP scanning. I just uninstalled it and reinstalled my KAV 5. I did like what I saw of KIS 6 beta though. It looks very promising. I especially liked the option to disable startup scanning. I might install it again now that I know about the HTTP scanning.

I noticed how light is was also, my test comp only has a 1gig cpu and 512mb ram and it did not seem to effect it at all.

I am running the beta KIS 2006. I get an error everytime I close Outlook express. I will close the anti-spam to see if that is the problem. But otherwise a promising start!!!

Here are some of my first impressions on KAV 2006:
    • As a package, I do think that it is a decided improvement on KAV 5.0. Impact while surfing as a sole process seems minimal, although I did have the web AV disabled.
    • A comprehensive computer scan will take time. On my machine (2.8 GHz P4, 1GB RAM), the direct comparison with NOD32 (basically same number of files scanned during off-hours with no other differential load) is 290 minutes for KAV 2006 vs 79 minutes for NOD32 with both packages scanning 1.15 million files.
    • While simple surfing as a single process didn't appear to lag, throwing in a process or two with heavy disk I/O (say a database application or heavy numeric similation with intermediate calculations stored to/read from disk) can cause significant slowdowns. The differential impact is effectively indicated by the comprehensive scan statistics above.
    • Default settings are tight, so tight that many novice users will delete things they probably did not want to. I'd loosen these a bit, otherwise support could be overwhelmed. It's not a problem for most users here, for novices it may be.
    • There are the usual beta glitches, but nothing catastrophic yet.
    • Since this version has an embedded IDS and Registry monitor, be aware of this if you are running either a registry monitor or firewall. Settings within KAV or the other applications may need to be adjusted to prevent stability problems.
Overall, it looks like an excellent effort thus far. There is a lot packed into a single package. If my previous KAV beta experience is an indicator, while stability will certainly improve as the path to commercial product is traversed, the fundamental speed of the main scan engine won't change significantly. If system impact is an issue for you with the current KL offering, that is unlikely to change in the coming year.

    tahoma,

I'm working from my primary partition now, if someone else doesn't answer in the meantime, I'll check later today.

The other impression, actually more an initial guess really, current satisfied users of KAV will be very pleased with this release.

The installer comes with a key built in - it expires Nov 26, 2005 - (regarding KAV 2006). I don't know about the the suite though.

I had to uninstall the KAV because the incompatible with Outpost...
The others programs can't update, and Outpost doesn't work correctly...

    Not recommended!

I am using KAV 6, Not KIS, and it works fine with Outpost. The only problem I have encountered was with the Network settings where I have to uncheck ports 80, 25, and 110.
Kaspersky knows about this and is working on it.

Well i'm running this combination with no trouble, there is a bug in the webantivrus, just go into the networksettings in Kav and uncheck port 80, 25 & 110 until it's fixed and you should be good, the link you provided is for Kav 5 personal btw.

For those having problems with the beta version of KAV6 or KIS 6, please report the problem to the developers in this forum so they can fix the problem and or help you fix any damage.

The development team has been very good at feedback and are trying hard to rapidly address all problems.
