    Oh dear. Same here....

All images Verified Ok. One was made prior to updating to 859 and the other after installing 859.

Both have problems when i try to extract files from the images.

    JPG when opened in Irfanview.

    C:\Download\Bathroom\Bathroom New 002.JPG : Can't read file header !
    Unknown file format !

    Original is fine.

PDF when opened in Acrobat reader 7

Not a supported file type or it is corrupt.

    Original is fine.

Exe files show no icon (except the blue box icon) and when run open a CMD window which then closes.

    Original is fine.

Going to roll back to 826 and see what the images are like......

    Re: Corrupt files

    Further to the above....

Now back on 826 and i can Explore any image pre or post the 859 update and the files in it are fine.

So obviously not a problem with the Image itself but with the way they are handled with the Image Explorer in build 859.

    Sticking with 826 for now....

    Acroniso_Oo_Oo_Oo_O?? Where are youo_Oo_O?

Which is really stange. I have now a report of someone running 1143 on Windows 2000 and his images are just fine.

PaulB2005, what OS and SP are you running? I'm getting the feeling that it's XP SP2 and Win2K3 SP1 related...

Strangest of all, not a peep from Acronis on this matter.

    Re: Corrupt files

I'm currently evaluating TI and made an image of my system with the same results: most of the files on the mounted image are corrupted.

I was about to give up and go for trying other imaging software before I found this forum. So obviously there seems to be a problem of the latest build with the mountig feature (at least on some Windows versions)

Anyway, I'm still considering to buy TI (even though I'll probably won't ever update to the latest build without checking this forum :)). But I'd be happy if Acronis would give make statement on this issue...

Just a question: after buying the software and registering for the download section, are you be able to download older builds from there?

BTW: I'm also running Windows XP SP2 with all the latest available security fixes. I also made tests with stopping all running programs and services I could stop.

I only ever see the latest build to upgrade to - never seen an option to download an older version - be sure to keep copies of each download should they be needed, (eg current 859 build which is terminally flawed).

It is disappointing that so far there has been no response from the vendor. I updated to this product from PowerQuest’s Drive Image (now Ghost) because this product supported incremental imaging. The most important issue is the ability to view and restore my data. At the office I use Ghost 9.0 and it works all the time every time. Sure it not perfect, slower and requiring the .net framework. But the slowness is overcome by the fantastic scheduler which supports the deleting of older backup files.

For all of you who wish to re-download build 826, go to Acronios website and click on product updates, choose ATI 8.0, you will be prompted to enter your Account with your ID and password (you must be a registered user).

Once you signed in click the "+" under ATI 8.0 and on the submenu click "full history of changes".

On the new small window that comes you will see the download link for Build 826.

If by all means you can't find it just Email Acronis support and ask them to send you the link to download that specific Build 826 and they will do so for you.

    Hello all,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Please accept our apologies for your inconveniences.

We have reproduced the problem with image mounting. Currently I can tell that images you created with build 859 are ok, furthermore, you should be able to restore these images with build 859 fine. However, there is a problem with image mounting that appeared in this build. This problem has already been reported to Acronis Development Team and they are currently working on it. I am afraid the only possibility to mount images is to roll back to the previous build 826 that is available for registered customers as mazaprin described above.

We are really sorry for temporary inconviniences.

    Thank you.

    Ilya,

Is the development team also checking Enterprise build 1143? It has the same problem, and that one has been out way longer than 859.

    Hello Tonio,

Yes, the module that provides mounting is almost the same in all versions of Acronis True Image. Once it is fixed, it will be fixed in all editions.

    Thank you.

Can you explain why I'm not experiencing the problems described in this thread with build 1143? :)

Is it dependent on the OS being used? (Win2k here)

    Hello wdormann,

This is strange. We will try to check whether the problem can be reproduced under Windows 2000.

    Thank you.

    Hello Ilya,

Sack cloth and ashes to the person(s) who signed off Build 859!! I do hope the Development Team are now thoroughly testing the mounter module on all the Operating Systems listed under <System Requirements> on your web page.

    Kind regards
    Tom

How about never? Read some of the old threads and you see they fix one thing and break everything else. This 859 is a unbelivable mess. Patch patch patch nevr a whole program.

  22. Ilya,

My original version was 826 and I upgraded to 859 and did a backup. I have not been able to mount an uncorrupted image file with 859, 826 or 800. You stated earlier that an 859 backup is OK. How can I validate this without doing a restore?

Should I back down to 826 and re-do my backups?

    Kindafrustrated,

Could you mount images successfully with 800 or 826? Once you install 859, you may have to uninstall 859 from add/remove programs in control panel, then re-install previous build to be able to mount again. Others have been successful just doing a repair/upgrade installation of the previous build (826).

I was able to mount my 859 image once I reverted to build 826, but then I re-imaged with 826 just to be sure.

  24. Mark7,

I could mount them, but the images were corrupted with the same symptoms as other people have described, mp3's all messed up, jpg's missing data, etc.

When I did a repair True Image with the 826 build I had the same symptoms. Was that not sufficient, installing the 826 build over the 859 and doing the repair? I didn't uninstall it completely.

    Kindafrustrated,
Most have had success re-installing build 826 over 859. One user (I can't put my finger on that thread right now) needed to uninstall build 859 from control panel > add/remove programs, reboot, then install build 826 (it will ask for your reg. code again). That should do the trick for you. good luck!
