If someone switched, it might be interesting to know from which package and why.

I switched from Norton about two years again because of too many virus penetrations. That was my motivation for first coming to Wilders. It was here that I first learned that my AV scan engine was out of date - unbeknowst to me. I was pretty much in the dark about security issues until I first came here. First package that I purchased after visiting Wilders - TDS-3.

It has been a while (over 3 years) since I switched to my current AV (NOD32). I had used both Norton and McAfee and really do not remember the reasons except I just personally were not satisfied with either. I have not tried either one since then (mainly because I am happy with NOD32) because I remember with both what a time I had getting them totally off my system. Things may be different now but even tho I try a lot of different AV's (including beta testing), I always stick with NOD32.

P.S. Rich - I moved this thread here to the polls forum because after all, it is a poll and we try to keep all polls in this forum ;) .

GData AVK 2005 + Outpost Pro and luvin' 'em. (Switched from McAfee 9 + Sygate free to get away from Mc's security center, activeX, weekly updates and because Sygate was getting old.)

Computer 2: NOD32 + NetVeda and luvin' em. (Switched from NIS because older comp was bogged down by Norton.)

Computer 3: NIS (Daughter's new laptop, she likes Norton, it works good for her.)

Note. I mentioned firewalls too because NIS is a suite and it seems more fair to compare.

Started with NIS2003, changed it to Avast Pro, changed it again
to BitDefender Standard and now a satisfied user of KAV 5.0 Personal. :D
Next on the list to try out is NOD32. ;)
Tried once to use BitDefender 8.0 together with KAV,
but they don't play nicely together or maybe I did make a mistake. :D

Edit: mistake, didn't start with NIS2004

I jump around from demo to demo. I used to use McAfee 9.0 but updates were infrequent and sluggish. Still, I like McAfee.
I just finished trying KAV 2006 Proto 2 and see great potential with this product.
I am currently trialling the newest version of NOD32 and am always pleasntly surprised at how light and effective it is.

Currently using NOD32. I switched from ArcaVir because of the missing support at the time. Right Now support is OK, I guess.

I see good potential with ArcaVir and KAV 2006 and may trial those in the future.

Main PC - AVG Pro (dilemma as to which AV I run here when my AVG sub ends o_O ) I have never fully tested any AV and I never hope I have to! TDS has had a few false postives which were verified as such (thankfully) I have been using AVG Pro for alomst 2yrs without problems but since joining Wilders I realise it is not one of the popular AV's hence my dilmmea for a new one or not o_O

Notebook NOD32 (2yr License) like NOD for my notebook only drawback is some pages are slower with NOD than they are with AVG. I like the extra configuartions with NOD - just wish I could remove things from IMON's list which I no longer have installed etc

I installed NOD as a result of being a member of Wilders and discovering more about it. The light footprint was attractive for my notebook as AVG does use a lot of resources but AVG is faster when browsing o_O

I have both computers running now so don't know how to vote lol

Well I am using the FREE verison of AntiVir...

Can you tell me why isn't it listed as well, because IMHO it is the less resource-consuming one, with two crucial features (Filters feature and system-tray Activate/Deactivate option), that I am missing in other AV programs. For more details, see here for the review that I wrote for CastleCops: AntiVir PE Review

    cheers all, stalker

    Hi Stalker,

I took my list off of the AV-comparitives test. I apologize if I did not include an AV. But I left plenty of room for comments! Thanks.

I switched to NOD from Norton to free up system resources and for faster on demand scans. Norton was a product I felt well protected with though.

NOD32. I've been down the "run every antivirus you can" road and this is where it stopped.
    I'm home. :D
