In depth Analysis or PC Scan Impossible

Hi all,

I've installed the 2.516 NOD 32 AV on a new PC equiped with XP 2002 and 2 hard disks of which 1 is in serial ATA.

Everything seems to work fine at one exception:

impossible to perform indepth analysis. Nod does not recognize my hard disks. The popup menu window of Run Not 32, In depth analysis or local do not open. Or betterthey open for 1 second and disappear. Only the Diskette analysis window remains open for scan.

WHAT IS GOING ON

Tony,

There is a certain consistency here - In-depth analysis is (according to the Help file) really just a local scan with all settings tweaked to maximum.

Can you launch the NOD32 on-demand scanner (Run NOD32)? If so, and you select the scanning targets tab, what appears (see screenshot below - this is what ron's referring to)?

Hi guys,

nothing appears at all excepted the Diskette scan windows

All other options popup for 1 second and disappear. It seems nod can't see my hard drives

i'll try a fresh install and revert. Tanks

Hi all,

Nod 2,5.19 was installed after a clean removal of Nod 2,5.16.

The problem is tenacious.....


FROM THE NOD 32 MENU it is Impossible to run:

-NOD32 (window pops-up for 1 second and disappear)
-Local scan (same as above)
-In-depth analysis (same as above)

Everything else works almost fine.....

I have no explanation to provide you with. I'll probably have to reinstall windows XP from a new install and check again

Please try running a command line scan to see if the scanner window remains open from this post.

1)Click the Start button on your desktop
2)Click on the 'Run...' option
3)Now type this in the new box that is displayed:

c:\progra~1\eset\nod32.exe /local /scanmbr-

4)Click the 'OK' button.

I did what Rumpstah told me to do.... same problem. Impossible to run a scandisk through NOD 32..... Don't know what to do unfortunately. Any help ?

Tony,

Are there any application errors showing in the Event Viewer? (Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Event Viewer, look at Application and System. You'll have to dig a bit.

What other processes are running? Could you provide a quick screen shot or simple list?

Has the OS been customized at all (tweaking services and so on) or is it a completely default installation?

thanks for your interest and dedication.

I had a PANDA online virus scan last night, since I was quite sure something wrong was hitting my PC more than NOD 32 itself. As a matter of fact, after PANDA removed a couple of scrap invadors, NOD automatically started to work simply fine as it always did.

I installed NOD on a new PC which was handed over to me (second hand). I am sure that it was infected and this infection corrupted also NOD. The person who sold it to me was certain that it was clean......It was not.

By the way, quite strange that an infected PC can corrupt NOD at the moment one installs it... Isn't it ??

Did Panda identify the invaders? Even if samples were not saved can you tell us what they were or were variants of?

No not at all.

Can you please boot into Safe Mode and try running a scan, further instructions about Safe Mode and setting up Nod32 for a scan with such can be found in post number 2 here.

Let us know how you go...

Unfortunately PANDA canceled automatically the infected area of my PC and I haven't got any benchmark to propose. Safe mode scan through NOD32, A Square, TDS3, Lavasoft went OK.
