Hey, I purchased autoupdate and it never works right. It always say it can't connect to the Internet or server. There is nothing wrong with my Internet connection. I have it set to use my Internet settings. What is wrong? I feel like I wasted good money.

Not only does SpywareBLaster Update hang on manual update with "program not responding," but any attempt to eliminate the process execution is fruitless; PC reboot is the ony way to end the hanging. There HAS to be some simple explanation to this. (I experienced this same kind of behavior a while back with a new version of the Yahoo anti-spy tool, and basically ditched it due to exasperation; every time I tried to check for updates/new versions, it hung.) Disabling AV & firewall has no effect.

I WONDER ... is this one of those programs that should be downloaded & installed with the AV/FW turned off?

    command line parameters
    ex:

    c:\...\spywareblaster.exe -update -enableallprotection -exit

this way i could just add this to my Scheduled Tasks instead of always having Spywareblaster AutoUpdate running in the background. :)

Re: SpywareBlaster 3.x Suggestions / Wishlist AD BLOCKING!

Spyware blaster already blocks bad cookies, bad websites, bad active x, flash blocking, custom block and makes coffee.

Whats the next best thing? Block ads! MOST of us use Firefox or anyother geck based browser but some still use IE and have trouble with ads, recent discoverys about advertisements (hidden or otherwise) have found that like tracking cookies, most track users down by how long they visit websites, are they viewing the ad, where they click, track the ip address and everything and send it back to advertisement companys through methods or javascript. This is not only a annoyance and a nousance but a security threat to user identity. PAH-lease Put ad blocking in the next version of spywareblaster as well. It's already a great thing but can be even greater.

    -Bam i am the man!

PLEASE - SpywareBlaster protection on ALL user accounts

First; a great, easy to deal with application! Thanks for making it available :)

As many have said before it would be EXTREMELY helpful and a very welcome addition to have the protection covering ALL user accounts(on WinXP) in one instance when updating/installing.
My children and wife either can't be bothered  or simply forget it!!

    Have a FREE Auto-Update mode.....
Also, well, that's all I can think of, except.....Having a button that allows you to add CUSTOM RESTRICTED SITES. Therefore, after downloading IE-SPYAD, you could add all of the restricted sites from your restricted sites zone. However, make it easy to upload many sites at a time, so you won't have to add 1 site at a time.... Like, make it have a thing where you can copy and paste a list of sites into the custom restricted site blocking. That way you can copy the list of restricted sites in the IE restricted zone in 2 seconds, instead of manually copying each site, which would take 20 hours...with IE Spyad.

It would be very helpful in the restricted sites section if users could create their own list of sites to block, separate from the program's list so that they could easily keep track of any changes they've made. Also, if this custom list could be forwarded to you SpywareBlaster guys to see if you want to add those sites to your own database, that would be very cool, too.

Please urgently consider Windows XP Home users with multiple “Limited Account” users. Allow a “Computer Administrator” to override an individual’s settings and enforce “Enable All Protection”, or give us a batch script or command line interface so we can enforce protection through the Registry or the All Users Start Up folder. Without these, the computer itself is still vulnerable.

im just a casual user, but i would reallllly like to see some easier way of managing whats been protected against and what has not, also a better way to mange the entire list would be nice, like alphabatizing it, or grouping by common variants, etc. out of the thousands of entries, i have only one that i wish to remain unblocked. sifting thru those thousands is tedious and time consuming, especially after an update. another thing id like to see, now that i just thought of it, when protecting against newly updated stuffs, the option to keep currently unprotected items unprotected would be nice.. just some thoughts, sorry if they weren't coherent.

    Spyware Blaster 3.4 design suggestion

I would like to suggest a change in the design.

If the contents of the Restricted Sites are visible, curiouslty can get the best of children. They get ideas on web sites that they did not have prior to viewing the list. :)

May I suggest making that list invisible but if a person needs to exclude sites, then they can be manually entered in.

    Thanks.

    1. SpywareBlaster & SpywareGuard integrated.
    2. Rootkit protection.
    3. JavaScript protection (enable/disable JavaScript in browser) if possible.

I would like to see the ability to download the updates for offline install. I install this on many home user computers which have been infected with spyware and would like the ability to install the updates before placing it online for better protection.

Thanx for making such a great product.

    1) Separate the Cookies and ActiveX entries in the Internet Explorer tab, putting them in separate tabs or scrolling boxes.

    2) Put the ActiveX codes (e.g. {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} for Google Toolbar Helper) in a separate column for organization.

    3) Alphabetizing (by clicking the column headers like in Windows Explorer):
In the Mozilla/Firefox tab, all the cookies are already organized by name. No issues here.
In the Restricted Sites tab, the sites are listed by their title. It would be nice if one could alphabetize the addresses.
In the Internet Explorer tab, it would be nice if one could organize by the Item Name. Everything is already organized by Type.

    Hi,

I'm a long-time user but I just found the forum(s) this morning. Thanks for the opportunity to research your fine product.

I now have three machines up and running (2 application machines + Internet Gateway/Router). These are NOT for any business - just a "learning lab". I try to keep all maintenance and "Security" tools consistent across all platforms. After SpywareBlaster installation on each machine I did a manual update to get the latest data. Then I decided I could capture all the updates on one machine and propagate them across my LAN to the other systems. This worked OK, but it still took many steps. I began looking for a single download method (like for Ad-Aware, Spybot, NAV, and others). I did some searching through the SB-KB and also registered here and did more searching. I found - in the "Tips & Tricks" thread - sort of an answer to my need... the five files that can be downloaded manually. Two of those links actually download/save a file. However, the other three of those links produce a browser (IE) display of what appears to be a record-dump of the files. Is there a problem with the three links that display file contents instead of performing a download ?

Second question: Instead of having to do five different downloads is there possibly an FTP server (or something similar) where I could grab all the latest files in a single step ?

    TIA for all help/suggestions.

  24. hello
here's another form of hijacking: my work resets the home page for explorer to the work home web address. they do that through the windows installer utility or something like it, as soon as i hook to their network. even my local IT guys say this is annoying - it is headquarters doing it. i find this practice offensive and additionally i want to boot to google in my case as it is useful.
it would be great if your great utility spyware blaster under ->tools -> internet explorer pages was able to set it to values and have it overwrite whatever is there after boot like once it is booted. that way work would override it as administrator when i boot, and you would set it back to what i want.
many thanks for the great program !
