I have e-mailed a request to support, but have not yet received a reply. I am using True Image 8.0, build 768. When installing the software, I went through the registration process, I thought. I have created an account and can log in. However:

I don't show any products registered. When I try to register the product, I get the message that the serial number is already registered!?!

I can't download the newest build until I register my product (see above).

I can't burn a rescue CD, even after booting in safe mode. I see in other posts that perhaps the latest build will solve that issue, (see the other two statements above).

I seem to be in a catch-22 situation. Any suggestions?? o_O

    I'd give Acronis a call.

There are numerous keygens out there for acronis products - I'm not sure that the chances are big that you have an exact same number than some keygen did, but maybe Acronis sh*tlists certain ranges which they know are pirated.

Your new, perfectly legal number might be disabled by this.

The same thing happened to certain MS Oem Win XP's in the past. I'm sure with proof of purchase Acronis will give you a new number?

    Re: Rescue Disk

If you send me $720, I am sure I can work something out. Do you prefer delivery by UPS or FedEx?

O.K. I have apparently succeeded in burning a rescue disc. I am now prepared to install my cloned 40 gig disc in my Dell Inspiron 4000, running Windows 2000 Pro, 512 Meg ram. I was also successful in registering the software and upgrading to build 826. I have one last question on this issue:

The new 40 gig drive was cloned from my existing 10 gig drive using TI 8.0, build 768. The rescue disc was burned using the upgraded build 826. Will that make any difference? Do I now need to repeat the cloning of the new drive with build 826 before installation?

No - if the cloning was succesful with #768, then it was succesful.

MiniMax, as usual you are the first to respond. Thanks for your help. After many trials and tribulations I got the Rescue Disk burned. Somewhere I missed that I needed to use and Unformatted disk. I was trying to burn to a blank formatted disk. Once I tried an unformatted CD-RW, the burn went without a hitch.

I'll try to install the cloned drive this week and hope to be up and running with my bigger drive soon.

Again, thanks for the excellent advice in this forum.
