I tried just now (1115PM Germany time, 5/23/2005). Very slooow. Obviously server is very congested. Downloads work fastest between 1Am-430AM Germany time.

Set AntiVir to do an auto update during those hours... perhaps?

    Cochise--

if the autoupdate doesn't work, you could try to download the whole update package. here is the link . the speed is really fast, comparing to the autoupate. Then extract all the files to a temp folder. and copy vdf and avrep.dll to C:\Program Files\AVPersonal to replace the orginal ones. after that you have to restart the antivir service.

I read somewhere (here ?) that it's better to NOT update around XX.00 hr
( 9.00, 10.00, 11,00....and 5 minutes before or after) because almost all automatic definitions downloads are set that way around the world.
    That's a good idea I think :)

    Hello

The alternative is to buy the new Antivir Premium edition for 20 euros. It has a dedicated update server which is always very fast, and it has a pop3 mailscanner too...

Niner, Niner, Niner I told you so!

Perhaps this will go away if they ever get the "new" updater up an running.

    Thanks
