I'm both a NOD32 (1.355) and PestPatrol user. While using PPUpdater to download the latest version PPMemCheck.exe, NOD32's Amon resident scanner alerted on PPMemCheck.exe as a probable virus. I suspect that this is a false positive so I have taken no action except to submit a copy of PPmemCheck.exe to samples@nod32.com.

Does anyone else use both NOD32 and PestPatrol? If so have you run PPUpdater today and did it trigger a NOD32 AMON alert?

    Regards,
    Bob

    Yes and Yes. :D

PS: It is almost certainly a false positive.

Thanks Jim for your post which strengthened my belief that it is indeed a false positive. However, I'm going to wait until I hear back from ESET before I scan my system again with PestPatrol so as to avoid opening the PPMemCheck.exe file.

    Regards

When I was running Pestpatrol my Kav picked up the PPmem as a WIN 32 pest and would wipe it out lol so I need to put it on ignore. Good to see that others wipe out PP as they seem to try with other products lol :)

HI Me, That was the same ,until I updated Pestpatrol , then for some reason it would all start . I seem to get into all sorts of hassles with My pestpatrol after each update .I just couldnt seem to get it flowing right afterwards each time.

Just to be clear. I think the problem I described is NOT PestPatrol's fault. But as often happens, I could be wrong.

A few months ago NOD32 tagged one of PestPatrol's updates as having a suspected virus. It was fixed very quickly ... you must have missed it. :)

Conflicts between antivirus detection strings are not uncommon ... it happens to everyone sooner or later because we all approach detection from a different angle ... but it seems to have been happening quite a lot to PestPatrol updates over recent months, with a number of different antivirus programs.

    Hi rod,

The reason I missed it the last time this happened was because until Dec 2002 I was a PC-cillun 2000 user. I understand that NOD's flagging of the PestPatrol's file is no big deal and I'm sorry if I sounded as if I thought it was. Actually, I'd rather my security software give me a false alarm whenever something looks fishy, rather than just ignore it. I'm already used to PestPatrol alerting on legitimate files but now it seems PP is getting a case of its own medicine.

    A satisfied NOD32 Customer

I just updated PP and ran a scan without a peep from NOD32. I feel so neglected and confused o_O
