Registry Cleaner reccomendations

Hi all

Firstly please excuse the lack of Punctuation & spelling as their not my strong points

I was just wondering if i could pick your brains on Reg Cleaners or similar type programs that claim to Clean up/Speed Up your machine as my XP Home Amd2400xp seems to be getting a little sluggish of late So i was wondering Do i :
1. Get a Reg type Cleaner & if so which ones do you reccomend

2. Or is a Full Format & Re-installation the way to go i'd like to avoid the Format as their a pain in the Jacksie at the best of times

Any way looking forward to your opinions

p.s i am spyware free to the best of my knowledge

ccleaner is a good choice for a free one, and the ace utilities set of tools is great if you don't mind spending a few bucks. personally, i use both of them.

I like regseeker and ccleaner. ccleaner in particular will free up space on your hard disk if you are becoming short on disk space. Other than that, defrag might help. But in order to really get to the cause of the sluggishness, you probably are going to have to be pretty methodical about your approach, e.g.,

1) What processes are runninng?
2) Are any of them spiking?
3) How much free physical memory do you have available?
4) How much virtual memory do you have available?
5) Does the sluggishness show up at particular times? If so, what programs are running? Are they contending with each other?

RegSupreme Pro, Registry Mechanic, Registry Medic, RegSeeker and CCleaner.

My favourite being RegSupreme Pro.

Me, I suggest you spend the bucks & get something that, even 5 years from now, you will love old Bell for recommending it. Namely, with great & passionate fervor, I urge you to trial Fix-It. Homebase is HERE & charges $50. However, doing der Froogle-Google will get you prices below $30.

Fix-it will clean-up, back-up, defrag, and tuck you in at night. Goooood schtuff. Been using it since 1995.

 

have tried a lot of registry cleaning programs..imho these are good ones..use multiple scanners as some will find that others will misss..also use them cautiously.

these are the best..
all of the paid ones has trial usage for atleast a month..my recommendation is use 3-4 cleaners
also defrag your system,registry
identify any software conflicts..
tweak and remove unwanted strartup entries,services,software,..

As i'm always a Sucker for a Bargain i've gone with the three Freewares to start of with & the NT reg opt for now & will look into getting a better version later i will let you all know how it goes anyhow

As for checking for Software/Registry Clashes Spikes Etc how would i do that ??

Register cleaning / 'general' cleaning tools:
-CCleaner
-HDCleaner

I've tried alot of cleaners .. yet these two free programs do the job for me.
