    I don't like using java/activeX either !!

And most suggested links to the other web-based email look good...but their
storage limit is way too small for me ~ 3 MB for example, compared to
the 2186 MB I get with Gmail, which I currently use and need !!

But I have no other choice.
I simply cannot live with any less storage limit. :doubt:

( I just hope and pray, Gmail isn't putting something "funky" on my puter, that I don't desire to have................. :ninja: )

Does anyone know if Mailvault requires javascript to work? I would like to find a web based email that doesn't need java, active-x or javascript to work. Anyone know of any? Thanks.

If you use or are thinking of using Mailvault you may like to read this...

    http://privacy.li/forum/viewtopic.php?p=376&sid=e108ec33a2b893cfafa1c4e4da10f4d4

''PT-Refuge is an obscure discussion list with some 100 members, who are into secretiveness, but use the spy-of-the-century YAHOO to run their group's discussions (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PT-Refuge/). So much for the sophistication of this group.

They all talk about encryption, but barely know how to handle it properly. The utmost these members do is to use www.mailvault.com ('MAILFAULT') for their communication, because the encryption is supposedly built in. They don't realise that MAILFAULT is a honey pot setup by known scamsters (Rex Rogers aka scam dog), who defaulted on millions with projects like Dodge City or Laisses-Faire-City in the past.

Their headmaster (yes, I choose this term, as they are more or less a kindergarten) is a certain Ian W. Sawyer based in the UK, who had his fair share of scams in the past ( at one time he figured the 'Economy Minister' of a non-existant nation (New Utopia), where they tried to raise 350 bln USD in bonds from the unaware. This was stopped by the SEC.

Sawyer then tried to steal the 'business concept' (loot others) from the super guru and 'head-of-state' of new utopia, Lazarus Long.
This in return resulted in a 5 bln USD lawsuit against Sawyer, which he lost (well, he settled outside of court, but had to pay handsomely to Lazarus to drop the charges).

Names and nyms involved in this PT-Refuge group and elsewhere are:
    - Ian sawyer (www.iansawyer.com), always trying hard to be the gentleman, but actually has been plotting lots of scams, be it New Utopia or fictional offshore banks with non-existant mastercards)
This is how he looks, notice the smile of a successful scamster:

    - scam dog aka Rex Rogers (Dodge City-scam), running MAILFAULT (mailvault.com), a honey pot to eavesdrop on the privacy concerned populace, also a major partner in metropipe.net (tunnel services/honeypot setup)
    - John Allen (the rumor has it that his real name is Robert Demes) who has specialised to scalp expats in Costa Rica, at http://www.destiny-worldwide.net/
    - 'Frank', using fm1234 with lots of at least doubtful projects to strip the unaware, ptr@fm1234.cotse.net
    - offshoresurfer, tried a few times to buy new identity documents, offshoresurfer@gmx.it
    - Graham Kelly, who runs the infamous goldnow.st outfit, any scam in the e-gold/DGC-world happens, Kelly is involved, big time! More can be read about Kelly at http://www.grahamkellyisnuts.info

If you deal with any of those individuals utmost CAVEAT EMPTOR is necessary.

    The list will be continued....''

''MailFAULT is run by the same guys who brought you the follwoing scams:
    - laissez faire city
    - FLO
    - DMT Orlin Grabbe scam
    - Metropipe (eavesdropping service)

Since a few months mailfault keeps your emails and delivers them with time lags up to 2 months, they keep copies of all your 'private communications'

    You have been warned!''

This does seem true as I signed uo for a Mailvault account a few months ago but never really used it. I sent and received a few (10ish) test messages and lots of them were never received. Some were weeks later though.

    Hi Neggy,

Nice find ! Very good info you've alerted us too there. I hope the word spreads quickly about all those rogues and bad sites etc.

I DL'd the free trial Metropipe a few months ago to try out, but held back as i wasn't 100% sure about it.

After what i've just read, i'm Exstatic i never installed it !

    Thanks

So if Mailvault is no good then what is a good free email provider that you don't need java, javascript or activex? Thanks if anyone knows.

    Very secure.

Been running for a long time now.

Warning: Need to have Javascript enabled in order to sign up and log in.

Bad thing is that it only gives 2 MB mailboxes. :(

But it's worth it if you use E-Mail sparingly.

Thanks Bigc. I'll look into that one. :) U da man.

    Kye-U,
I thought you also need java to be active in your browser, in order to be able to use HushMail. That's what I've heard about that one anyhow.

    I may also recommend www.safe-mail.net
Does not need java and is very secure. Strict minimum, but fully functional, no ads, no superfluous gadgets, best respect of privacy I have ever seen. Small mailbox, but it is possible to buy more place if you need. I have been using it for years and I like it very much.

Outgun is powered by Outblaze. Isn't this the Outblaze that has hundreds of interrelated e-mail accounts and is based in China?
