I don't know much about it, other than it is for use with an Exchange Mail Server...

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers :D

Is there a reason why port 8080 and 3128 are no longer listed in the http checking

In my previous version, under IMON and http setting, port 80, 8080 and 3128 were listed for checking.

In the Beta version, it's no longer there, shall I add it back on?

When do the virus definition updates for the beta end? Obviously Eset won't want everyone with the free beta to be able to update endlessley.

After doing a "new install" of the latest beta I too only show port 110 under IMON http mail checking. Should we add 8080 & 3128?

Guess that's a good reason to install over previous version to ensure settings remain unchanged.

Why should POP3 use the ports 8080 and 3128 once they are used by proxy servers?

I just downloaded the new 2.50.9 beta for my Win 98SE PC and the IMON settings are set normally (never had NOD32 on this box before.) The POP3 tab is set as port 110 and the HTTP tab is 80, 8080 and 3128.

    Color me confusedo_O

    Which part is confusing?

    Those are normal settings.

    POP3 has a standard port of 110.
HTTP has a standard port of 80.
HTTP 8080: This port is a popular alternative to port 80 for offering web services. "8080" was chosen since it is "two 80's", and also because it is above the restricted well known service port range.
Port 3128 is common for HTTP proxy servers (i.e. Squid on Linux Servers offering proxy services).

    I hope this helps. ;)

The confusing part is due to the fact that the two ports disappeared from the list. From my original query, I said I had it before the upgrade. Admittedly, I installed it over a previous version. At the config screen, it asked if I'd like to keep my current Eest setting, I clicked yes.

When checking back the settings after config the was finished, port 8080 and 3128 disappeared from the list, hence my question, should I put it back.

No, what I meant is that my NOD32 beta looks normal and I'm confused as to why there are a couple of users that don't have the normal port settings.

Opium_Dealer: Yes, you should put them back as the posts above note. Just make sure that the right port listings are made on the right tabs...

Installed the new Beta 2.50.9 yesterday over my 2.12.3. version. I Switched off AMON etc, and everything went very smoothly, a fast install. it retained Blackspear's settings. (also all the port settings). The scheduler still works.
Just need "Blackspear's guide to the NOD32 galaxy" to set all the new features, i am lost with all the new options to use.
I like the new layout and the intro on startup, its worth doing a restart just to watch it. The balloon notification is better. I have noticed microsoft outlook now has "NOD32" on the menu bar by the "help",( you can enter setup or run nod32) and on the toolbar below there is a "N" (nod32) icon. Has any one else noticed the change.
The virus signatures are updating ok..1.1085

NOD32 is just a damn good scanner. I am going to stick with it from now on and recommend it to my friends!

Edit: Kaspersky is also having a beta, and both are great antivirus programs. Hopefully Eset is going to overtake Kaspersky. Too many think Kaspersky is the best.. don't ya think?
