Have any of you heard of zabasearch? They find people, for free. THEY GIVE ADDRESSES AND PHONE numbers, birthdates. They give satelite photos of addresses and offer links to zip code, maps, background checks and photos. They had me at my last address. They have every name I have checked so far. The satellite pictures appear to be about three years old. You can request to be removed from their lists by going there. .com
How did they get so much of these information from? This zabasearch seems like no decent guy to me...
isnt it illegal in the first place to collect info and keep it like that unless one is working for the government?
Zabasearch is no good, it may be a partner of a spyware company or its a site that collects personally identifiable information. Somebody needs to investigate what the hell is this zabasearch thing... now I know why the tech guy in the local papers said: ''surfing the internet these days is like trying to survive a B-grade horror movie.'' You should be wary of zabasearch, they have all sorts of PII. ( Personally Identifiable Information.)
Don't know for sure. they have one of my son's listed at my old address, but not the other. The only 2 connections between the latter and I, are our driver's licenses and mailing address. My unlisted son's driver's license has a bad address on it when he lived there, but he got plenty of mail there. I'm thinking they use the driver license bureau to match name and address and then the post office for zip code. They use Globex for the satellite photos and mapquest for the maps. Looks like it is only in US. It says it is only going to run until April 30.
I tried it out and it didn't find me or my wife. You can also type a phone number in a google search and it will list the person it belongs too and their address. Type your phone number in the search in this format: xxx-xxx-xxxx Try it out. If you see your information listed there and want to remove it....Go here: http://www.google.com/help/pbremoval.html
Here's an article on zabasearch by Security Focus As this is thread is really about Privacy, I will move it to the General Privacy Forum. Steve
I had no idea it was that easy for just anybody to get my info. That article was enlightening...Thanks. My son bought a second-hand computr from the Orange County Public School System's recycle program last year. It had the names addresses and records of over 2.500 students in it, including their SS#s. I wiped them out when I formatted the hard drive. Then I wrote to the school board. They have not responded.
Anyone upset about what Zabasearch is doing, by invading our privacy and selling our information (or giving it away!) without our informed consent can find a Complaint Submission form at the STOPZABASEARCH website. The address for Stop Zaba site is: http://stopzaba.atspace.com (Read toward bottom of first page for links, including a sample letter of protest.) Good luck at getting your privacy back.
