I have the following error message come up now and again:

    SYSTEM WARNING

    Network fatal error at oof:2348AD
Warning! Your internet connection is not secured. Please use network security software to protect your PC from remote attacks and hacks.
Click "ok" to get all the available "network security" software.

I also have a exclamation mark on a yellow background in the bottom right hand corner of my screen.

Has anyone got any idea what may be causing this?

Sounds like a message hijack of your browsers and your PC might be infected with a badboy causing it..

I would go to one of the forums that does hijackthis logs and post a log for them to analyze.

    see here as an example..

Hi, those pop up adds that say ;You may have spyware, your computer clock may be wrong, your infected with....., are just a scam to get you to download and run their software which usually finds all sorts of fake infections and then wants to charge you for removal, they can also install unwanted BHO (browser helper objects) search assistants etc.

If you suspect you PC is infected with spyware download a free Antispyware program, three excellent choices; Spybot, Adaware, Microsoft antispyware.

Antivirus software you will have to pay for, the free programs are ok but can't compete with a good paid AV, Nod32 is my choice as the best, the current beta has outstanding detection abblities, Kaspersky is also good as is DR web.

A good Firewall is also a must, Windows SP2 firewall is not really good enough, Zonealarm have a free version that is top notch.
