Hello, Last night my Look n Stop firewall stop loading correctly. When I would boot my computer the following error message would occur: The instruction at "0x00412393" referenced memory at "0x00485000". The memory could not be "written". I could not get the thing running, so I uninstalled LNS completely, rebooted, then reinstalled. The firewall seems to be loaded and filtering packets, but does not appear to be filtering applications. It does not even ask for permission for any program to access the internet. I have scanned my pc with all the usual AV and Spyware scanners and appear to be free of any infections. Anyone have any ideas?
Hi, You should try the following patch: http://looknstop.soft4ever.com/Tools/LnSRegPatch.exe Do you have an idea about what caused the initial issue with the memory error ? When exactly this message was displayed ? Thanks, Frederic
Thanks Frederic, The error message I listed would pop up upon Windows startup before I ever had the chance to log in. I am uncertain what I may have done to cause it. I haven't made any major hardware or software changes lately. App filtering is now registering and filtering applications that access the internet. However, it is still missing the start-up services. Is this something that I need another patch for...can't remember if this functionality was built in or if I had to use implement a registry change for it to filter startup services?
After a while I have not open LnS, today I though I want to see the log. What a surprise when I saw that the app filtering does NOT work anymore. Sure, applying the patch and rebooting will make the app filtering WORKS again. But deep inside me, I wonder: Should I trust LnS??
