Are there any good adblocker for IE? I usually use Firefox but occasionally have to use IE. I'm so used to ads being blocked by the extension Adblock that I'm surprised at how many ads I see when I use IE. Is there a good reliable one without ads or spyware? Thanks!

Ad Shield is one of the best for IE that I have used but it is not free.

Ad Muncher is my favorite and what I currently use. It works with any browser.

I also must use IE for a few sites, and made these IE tweaks to help:

    1) Changed Internet Zone from Medium to High
    2) Changed Trusted Zone from Low to Medium
    3) Imported 4d-s.xml from Eric Howes XML-MENU program. (The 4d-s.xml file only allows Session Cookies in the Internet Zone, and First Party Cookies in the Trusted Zone.)
    4) Used Eric Howes IE-SPYAD program.
    5) I then add my must use sites to the Trusted Zone.

Some times it takes quite a bit of detective work to ferret out all the other sites associated with the main site. (I use Proxomitron in Bypass mode and with the Log Window open.)

    HTH,

I decided to use AdMuncher but then I realized that it's a trial version. Are there any free alternatives? It doesn't need to block popups since I'm using SP2 and the Google bar.

The only free IE adblockers that I am know of, and others can chime in with those that I am not aware of, are Proximitron and Webwasher (at least it use to be free, I haven’t check it out in a couple of years) and, of course, your own Hosts file.

Privoxy is free and very effective for removing ads and much, much more from IE. Used to be known as Junkbuster

Does Proxomitron work for dial-up connections? It seems kind of hard to set up.

I'd try Privoxy but I'm not sure where to download from.
    Thanks for all the help!

Proxomitron will work with dialup. In fact, it should help your page rendering speed.
Start off with the default filters.

    Privoxy here.

Personally i tried it and it works well , nothing to worry about , beside this you can made your custom block list too . Sorry for my english , its not my native language .

  18. Put me down for Ad Muncher. Once configured (easy) you'll never see another ad. No popups, no banners, no floaters, no nothing. Amazingly, it will even eliminate Google adsense text ads. To see a newspaper site with and without AM is amazing as those sites are usually loaded with small block ads all over the page. They're GONE with this program.

I couldn't use my computer without Ad Muncher.

I've tried all of the above and if it's ad blocking you are after - ADMUNCHER.
    In a heartbeat.
