Hello again! I am currently using Kerio 2.15 in my box. Now on my other box i want to set up an application based filtering firewall. I have tried Zone & Outpost. Is there any other one would be a worth try...would liek to know...Cheers
Actually, Kerio 2.15 does application filtering, it is just a minimalist approach to the problem. After all, you don't set up a rule to let any program call out on tcp port 80, there is one for each application, and all applicationfiltering firewalls have this in common. Another application filtering firewall to try is Look n Stop. Not big in the marketplace like the others mentioned above, but it gets a lot of press at Wilder's because the support forum is here.
Yes, you can still use rules in the packet filter area of the network section. You can import them from a Kerio 2.x rule set. I forget which menu that's on, but I'm sure you'll find it. Just turn off the Predefined Rules and then tweak BZ's as necessary. Beware that the logging is somewhat strange, but aside from that, everything should work ok. I don't think BZ officially supports Kerio 4 with his rule sets, but there's no reason why you can't try them and adjust as necessary...
Thx again Kerodo..for some reason on my other PC my bro uses lods of communication progs & indeed a lot of applications
