    Hi folks,

I am trying to restore to my wife's laptop but I am getting a corrupted image.

    I have 10 tib's on 2 DVD roms.

The weird thing is that the image verifies on my PC where it is also stored.

When I go to restore from the boot disk on her PC it asks for the last volume created so I choose 10.tib off the 2nd disk. Then it asks for the media labled as 1st volume so I do that and it fails with 20 minutes left saying Image Corrupt. The entire restore is about 6gb. It seems like it just can't correctly switch to the 2nd disc; it never even asks. The 1st has tib's 1, 2, & 3. The 2ns has all the rest up to ten.

I am thinkin gabout getting an IDE > laptop HD adapter and trying to restore from my PC.

    Any thoughts?

    Hello doctorcilantro,

Thank you for choosing Acronis True Image (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).

We are really sorry for the inconveniences.

If it is possible please try to restore the images from the network: share the folder on your computer that contains images and try to access them from your wife's computer after booting from Acronis Bootable CD. Also please try to burn images from your computer to UDF-formatted DVDs once again and restore them.

    Thank you.

I'm not sure how to use the network as the laptop is wireless and the rest of my pcs run off cat5; I use Remotely Anywhere to share files instead of the MS network.

I tried UDF dvd's and keep getting an error.

I'l try to verify the dvd data again.

I verifed DVD 1 which had Volumes 10-7 on it...then it asked for 6 so I inserted DVD 2 which has 6-1.

I am verifying the DVD's on my PC. The PC that says the image stored on my hard drive is okay.

After a while of checking DVD 2....Acronis simply stops verifying. The box disappears and Acronis is just sitting idle at the main window. I left the house after inserting DVD 2 the first time and came home to this, perplexed. Si I did it again and this is what happend.

This is somewhat unsettling. I need to get an ATA adapter to connect the laptop drive directly to my PC. I don't yet know how these work, will my laptop drive be powered through the connection? Is there a power adapter built into the adapter?

Are you using name brand blank DVD's? My burner, a rebadged Lite-On SOHW-812S, has problems dealing w/ generic DVD's. I get better results w/ the name brand ones like TDK, Sony, Memorex, etc. Also, make sure your DVD burner's firmware is updated. New firmware usually adds support for more brands of media.

I use a Lite-On 411 modded to an 811 with the newest firmware. This drive ends up producing superior burns than at stock as a 411.

I find it highly strange that Acronis simply stops checking the archive. I can burn dvds and cds & this image (the one stored on HD) verifies okay on my PC.

    Hello Dr. C,

Are you restoring your wife's laptop from an internal or external (USB) DVD? If the former, try burning the DVD compilation at a slower speed (I need to burn at x2.4 on my x4 Sony in order to prevent image corruption). If the latter, have a read of this somewhat lengthy <previous thread> about large file transfers over USB if you have not already done so.

    Regards

    Hello doctorcilantro,

Could you please send screenshots of what you see right after the verification starts and what you see finally (after Acronis True Image stops verifying) to support@acronis.com along with the link to this thread? Also please try to verify the image on DVDs in Safe mode (press F8 key when Windows starts up and choose to boot into Safe mode) and let us know the result.

    Thank you.

I burned some DVD's @ 2.4x and they kept failing at different TIB's and when I would retry it would continue. I compeleted the image restore twice using the DVD's on the internal dvd-rom of the laptop but both times I got a boot failure.

I will verify the DVD images in Safe mode and send you pics but basically it ends w/ Acronis sitting in exactly the same mode as upon startup.
