This thread is very old, and refers to an old version of SpywareBlaster. A new thread will be opened soon.

    Hi everyone,

I'm always interested in the ideas you folks have, so please feel free to leave any suggestions or wishlists you have here.

I'll take a look at them for the next version of SpywareBlaster. :)

[Note: If you discover any bugs in SpywareBlaster 3.2 that have not been reported elsewhere in this forum, please start a new thread. This thread is for suggestions only.
Also, any bugs that have been mentioned here in the past are either already fixed or are being worked on for the next version of SpywareBlaster, so you don't need to report them again.]

Are there plans to add FireFox/Mozilla "Restricted Sites"?

    NTLM authenication support

My wish list would be for updates (manual and automatic) support proxy with NTLM autentication support.

As SpywareBlaster is designed to be used on windows computers - many based on corporate and those on small business networks using for example SBS2003 use a proxy server that requires NTLM for authentication.

Addin NTLM support would widen appeal of SpywareBlaster to corporations and increase sales?!?

I'd like to see a return to one feature of older versions, where you could see at a glance right after updating defs what had been added but not yet activated.

Some way of alphabetizing Active-X items would be nice, too. Maybe keep new unprotected items separate, at the end of the IE list, until protection is enabled -- that would cover my first "wish".

I think it would be nice to add a security feature like a password to modify the system setting for sometimes your friends or other unauthorized person may deactivate them while you are imagining your girlfriend. :D serious say for example in a small net cafe where users of PCs are random. you never know who will use them.

I have a suggestion that maybe interesting. Spywareblaster is a nice utility when your Windows XP PC only has 1 user, but on PC's that have multiple users, it would be nice to have a feature to activate all protections on a machine level, instead of just user level. Having done this at my PC's, i find it rather dificult to keep up-to-date definitions to all users on a single PC. Since the other users of my PC aren't advanced users, they mostly forget to update and apply all protections.

How about a site license/volume license key auto-update feature? I work at a school that has a few thousand computers, and it would be nice to not have to manually update each computer.

I would like to see a site license for the auto-update feature. It is too time consuming to manually do the updates on all the systems used in a school enviroment.

Similar to Spywareblasters feature of adding Custom Blocking lists of ActiveX controls....I would like to suggest adding a feature to have the same ability for a Custom Restriced Sites list ;)

Thanks for helping us protect our privacy and security Javacool [IMG]

How about adding some COMMAND LINE OPTIONS for running the executable?

I do a decent job of making different scripts running various programs but I have yet to find good CLO for running SpywareBlaster, which would help tremendously!

You should add an e-mail link to the SpywareBlaster page on the Javacool site for the express purpose of reporting new Class Ids. I don't have time to page through 148 pages of threads on the Wilder site to try and find a place to report it. Here is a link to the description of it:

    Thanks

    Commandline support

    example:

    spywareblaster.exe /Protect all | internet | restrictedsites
    spywareblaster.exe /remove all | internet | restrictedsites

    with | seperating commands

ability to download updates via commandline too, currently we can use wget (commandline download tool) but its kinda inconvenient :p

    Hi Javacool -

If it would not be too difficult to impliment, I would like the ability to allow flash to be used in specific cases. Note, this is not the same as saying on specific websites. For example, the biggest flash offenders for me are the ones that do really abnoxious animations on comcasts sign in, and local pages. including the infamous rocketship blasting off repeatedly....Anyway, on the other hand I like to look at the local weather, and I preffer the slick buttons to the sparton text links that are there on the same website. So if flash killer is enabled, I cannot see the weather and the buttons. If it is not then I have to be annoyed by some really abnoxious ads.

This may sound amazingly picky of me, howeve, if it was feasible it would make it feasible to leave the flash killer active instead of constantly switching back and forth.

I have an alternative, but i will post it separately, so it's hopefully less confusing!

    Hello Again, Javacool -

I really, really, really hate flash animations. Here is another wish regarding protection from intrusive, distracting flash animations. Basically, it is for a method of turning flashkiller on and off more quickly than by opening the program and going to tools and checking / unchecking the box.

There are two alternatives that might be feasible:

1- at tray icon that would toggle the flashkiller on/off, maybe Flash with a line through it for off, or without for on. This would certainly carry a pricetag in terms of system resources, but if it were an optional feature, I, for one would enable it.

2- a hotkey to toggle the FK on or off. I don't really know if this would add any overhead to running SWB. Since I already use hotkeys for other things I would not thinks so, but for all I know certain services have to be enabled to do this, and that could impact some users.

BTW - I just realized SpywareBlaster is the second longest running freedom program that I use. The first is Spybots Search & Destroy, which mentions your program by name in the immunization feature. Therefore, SWB is the two longest running protections on my computer!

Since that entry is already listed and has been for quite a while....I suggest you do a simple search via the Spywareblaster program for any future items you are wishing to report.

Finding an Item on the Block List:
To locate an item on the Block list...
    1. Right-click on the Block List, and choose "Find..."
    2. Enter your search terms when prompted, and press the "OK" button.

I work for my school cleaning student owned computers, my wishlist for this product includes the ability to create a .reg / .exe / .bat or whatever of the updates to the system I wish to make, to install on a computer that doesnt have this program installed. And then be able to just double click it after I finsih cleaning their system, to protect them. I know this would be incredibly useful in a corporate enviroment as well.

How about adding a sticky here in the forum, much the way Lavasoft has done, and Spybot(tho, not as effectively) to post the updates. When they are released, Mods or whoever is in charge of posting them, adds it there first, alerting all who have subscribed. And details of what has been added would also be great, much the way Lavasoft and Spybot do.

I have mentioned this before but it has fallen on deaf ears.

In this manner, you can subscribe to the topic, and get aleerted each time an update is issued, and not worry about staying updated.

I have this implemented on my site for the following apps:
SpywareGuard(we all know about those updates tho ;) )
    SpywareBlaster
    AdawareSE
    Spybot
    WinPatrol
    SpySweeper

Anyone who subscribes to those topoisc, is never behind in their defs updating.

BTW, Calendar of Updates is working on beta testing this very soon.

I would like Java script Protection. Like when you play online games or run java applets, something that can help protect you from bad java code execution.
You have the whole world using your wonderfull program. The Possibilities are endless of what you can make of it.

Here is a good one for you! I use this program and like it ,however in my testing of this product, I find that, if in fact, I need to totally re/format my Hard drive( which I do instead of using winxp repair/restore utilities),When I download this program again after completing Fresh Install of Everything Spyware Blaster will NOT allow me to make a Backup Of My Hosts File and states " you do not have the necessary Permissions to do this". That's a real killer, since I am the Administrator and Have all the Priviliges!! Any ideas on how to fix this? *puppy*
