Is CPU-Z a safe program to use?

Hi,

I have downloaded said program from http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php When I attempted to run it, Process Guard came up and prevented it from installing a driver. I have looked around the web, and it seems CPU-Z is a legitimate program. I thought I would ask on here as well, and find out what others thought about it.

I have been experimenting with overclocking my P4 the past couple days, and I first heard about CPU-Z on www.overclock.net Seems like a cool program, but I don't need a rootkit driver to be installed on my system (if it is actually a malware proggy)

 

I use CPU-Z without any problems at all. It seems to be safe.

I use CPU-Z without any problems...
It doesn't have any kind of malware.

Hi Pikachu762,

Apps like CPU-Z, WCPUID, Central Brain Identifier, and CrystalCPUID require driver install permission to function properly. With CPU-Z, you will see mostly blank tabs if PG blocks the driver.
