Verification questions!!

Hello Acronis stuff,

the verification of images needs improvments!!

1. The progress bar is wrong, top bar does stop at 75%, lower go to 100%

2. verification dont tell you after the end which file was testet. I test the images over night, and for now I have to write down what I am testing because if I forget it I have to do it again..... The best way would be if it would be in the LOG file!

3. If I have a full image and severel incremental images what will be tested?
Lets say
full image 1.feb.2005
increm. 2.feb 2005
increm. 3.feb 2005
increm. 4.feb 2005
increm. 5 feb 2005

If I do verification of the last incremental made 5. feb 2005 what will be testet?? All the increments and the full or only the last and the full??

Please note that the top bar indicates overall process while the bottom one is for the current operation.

If you check one image from a set of incrementals Acronis True Image will test all the set. We regret to inform you that current version of Acronis True Image doesn't create any verification log. We will certainly implement this feature in the future versions of Acronis True Image.

I think an option to automatically perform image verification as part of the creation process (perhaps a check box with setting remembered to always verify following creation?) would be MOST useful (and appreciated!). Right now, verification has to be manually initiated.

"Other" drive imaging S/W has this option available.

As Ronald Reagan once said "Trust, but Verify"...

about the bars, so the overall process stops at 75%?? I never saw the top bar go to 100% in verification.

About the verification: What happens if only 1 increment off all is corrupted?
Lets say
full image 1.feb.2005
increm. 2.feb 2005
increm. 3.feb 2005
increm. 4.feb 2005
increm. 5 feb 2005

IF increm. 4 feb 2005 is corupted. The verification will tell me ALL IS CORRUPTED . Can I still restore the other increments (1.2.3.5. feb.)?
If it dont tell me what is corrupted how should I know which date I can restore??

 

Hello Stefanos,

You may move the last file and verify the set without it. When you stop getting the message that the image is corrupted then the problem is in the last one you moved.

You may restore the full image and all the subsequent incrementals upto the corrupted one.

As for the verification indication bar please send the letter with the description of the problem and screenshot to support@acronis.com. Our Support Team will certainly help you with the solution.

This means that every increment depent on the one before!?
so if 4.feb is corrupt I cant restore 5.feb?

You are right. Furthermore, if in your example the 3.feb is corrupted you won't be able to restore the 4.feb and 5.feb. However it is sometimes possible to explore even the corrupted image and extract almost all the necessary files.
