Wormguard won't scan file - not enough memory error?

I have Wormguard (trial version) for my Windows 98 and it works very well in the background. Has saved me a few times.

Only problem I have is that it won't scan a file because I get this error "There is not enough memory to run this program...". I did close most other programs running in the background, but the error still popped up upon a file scan. Then, I tried it again in safe mode but still that error popped up. I have 192 RAM and in safe mode, user resources were at 82%. I wouldn't think Wormguard needs more RAM to run more than what I've got unless it requires at least 256RAM or something.

Also, I can't open some programs such as my recycle bin or I'll get that same error again "There is not enough memory...." But, this problem is corrected when I uninstall the protection mode in Wormguard.

What could be the causes? Should I uninstall and reinstall Wormguard?

Hi,

The right-click scan can have this problem, its not a memory error thats just a generic message (comes from Windows itself). The intention of Wormguard was to auto scan everything you run/open and that does not ever have this problem.

You could try running WGSCAN and giving it the filename, but this is not meant to be the way to use Wormguard. Its meant to be transparent and scan things for you as you use your PC

 

If it helps, I also had this occur on a Win98 system. And I have a very good utility showing that there was certainly plenty of memory available.

 

Just in case R2D2 or others are still seeing this, this seemed to be some conflict of software. I was able to get mine working by uninstalling Norton Anti-Virus as well as all the Live Update tentacles, then put WG on, then reinstall Norton.
