I once saw a poster which said, "the mind is like a parachute; it only operates when open", I wasn't realy open minded enough to take any notice :D

Cartoondad once said to me " Cartoonboy, I guess the challenge is to feel free to be who you are when you are in the company of those a little more rigid in thinking. And being rigid is not wrong. We all vary."

I think if you are toooooo concerned with what people think about you, it will create a closed mind.

This is on my bedroom wall:

" It's none of my business what other people think of me "

    Howdy Folks!
I am 100% open minded only on the internet, but that does not mean I accept everything on there. So I voted for no. I am 100% honest ;).

ps. Greetings Mr Wilders and all of you!

My guess is, and I'm serious, that closed-minded people will probably feel that they are open-minded, and open-minded people will constantly be questioning themselves, "Am I really being open-minded here?"

I've gotta agree with you, Acadia. It's like what is said about crazy folks never considering they might not be sane while rational people in bizarre situations will probably wonder, “Is there something wrong with ME here?”

I don’t think it’s possible to be 100% open-minded all of the time. What’s important, IMO, is to live-&-let-live without insisting others see the world as we do.

Surely the answer to the question "are you open minded?" cannot be answered decisively in the positive without creating a paradox?! lmao *Disappears in a puff of logic*

I Voted 'No'.....I used to be open minded but I found that something would either come into my mind or something would go out of my mind...so I was never quite sure whether I was in or out of my mind..... :D

Whats that saying:- Would some Power, the Gift to give us, to see ourselves as others see us....Robbie Burns.... :D...

If we where truly open-minded, by definition, we would accept everything....that can't be right, can it??....

Relax, I think the board accepts you and your "tendencies". (sorry, I should not be speaking to you as such - but then, this is the internet)

Open minded to accept people for who and what they want for themselves - closed for myself, I have set limits and boundaries.

Is there any chance of having a 'Tongue in Cheek' Smiley?.....or maybe even a 'Foot in Mouth' Smiley....could be quite useful on occasion... :D

I am pretty much open minded except when it comes to one of the four options you listed. And on that subject there is no justification or excuse in my opinion.

Yes, I am usually open-minded in the sense that I respect people with
different views than mine....in spite of my mother favourite adage:

"It is good to be receptive but keep in mind that the
most receptive item in the house is the trash can"

I think it's almost more important to respect the rights of others to hold different views than to respect the people, themselves, OR the views they hold.

Paradox? I'm sure you meant to say "pair of ducks". This subject is fully explored in the Academy Award winning thread lovingly known as "The Duckel Incident".

I have an open mind so long as everyone agrees with my point of view!

    Play on, big ed

Well said jayzzz, I think there is no right or wrong, and to be truly open minded this would have to be absent. It simply comes down to respect [IMG]
