Partition fixing?

Ok, here goes, I'm running WinXP Home, SP2.

I havent bought this Disk Director yet but i do have true image and am happy
with it. So before i buy, a question, please.

I have 2 HD's both are SATAs. The original HD (160Gig) was partitioned with
partition magic into "C"- Primary, Bootable, and D,E,F as extended, logical
partitions.
The new HD, (200Gig), was partitioned with the windows disk manager into
4 extended, logical partitions (G,H,I, and J).

When i bootup, everything is there and i can get to everything on both HD's.
When i run partition magic, it shows drive C as 1 large partition (the whole 160
Gigs) and its marked as "Bad".

Since i can boot and get to everything on both drives, i'm assuming that
partition magic is at fault (maybe because windows disk manager and PM
didnt communicate correctly?) and that the MBR or MFT was changed
to something other than what PM is looking for.

What i need to do is go in and re-capture the 4 partitions on drive C, without
losing any data. and also to recapture the partitions on the second drive.

I pulled the users guide for Disk Director but didnt really see anything that
specifically said DD will fix this. Will Disk Director fix this? If so, please point
me to the page in the users guide that states the procedure.

Have you run check disk [error checking] on all the Partitions.

Because it might be PM that is fault as you say.

DDS9 does have a tool to repair corrupt unbootable [or restore deleted] HDD's or Partition.

Yes, chkdsk (and chkdsk /f) was the first thing i did.

As i mentioned, the system is bootable from the C drive, only OS i have.
The partitions have not been deleted just reported as bad by PM.

I'm not even sure its corrupted (except in PM).
Which tools is it that will fix this in Disk Director and does it have good instructions in the documentation?

I am not say it will fix it.

As you might not have any thing wrong. [PM error]

It will only fix a corrupt HDD or Partition or restore Deleted HDD or Partition.

If it does not find any corrupt or deleted HDD or Partitions it will say so.

thanks for the info.

I have the evaluation version and it looks good.
Not to sure about the Advanced\Edit stuff. Looks like it is well beyond me and
it looks dangerous to mess with also. But the rest seems fairly straight forward.

Along with True Image, i should be pretty well covered.
Guess i'll buy it

TheQuest is completely right. If Partition Magic reports ar error but the Windows checking program doesn't reveal any problem then most probably it is a problem with Partition Magic.

We have also received several messages about Partition Magic reporting an error after using Acronis Disk Director Suite but Windows doesn't detect any errors.

PM will report a disk as bad if you use almost any other partition creation tool, though you will be able to see the partitions in explorer, and use them, something about PM that makes it go that way, and the only way out of it, that I've found is to save the data then re-build the mbr of the HD.
