    Hi,

I have used True Image 6 thru 8 so I am very familiar with the product, it is great!

I did run into a basic problem with TI8, however. I was trying to change out the hard drive on my single drive PC. I made an image of the drive (boot drive since only one) onto another computer. The I imaged the new drive with that stored image, and put in tin the PC. I could not get the machine to boot. Tired several time even with new image. I did get it to work by using the disk clone selection on the software, but this is unusual in that I have done it the other way many times??

It also makes me very concerned about backups that I have if I cannot restore to a bootable drive.

    Did something change in TI8?

The only thing I can think that I did different than every other time I did under TI6 &7 was that I was going to a smaller drive i.e. the old drive was 60G (but only half filled) and the new one was 40G, but it did not give me any error messages, it just would not boot.

    Hi jkrous,

Did you have more than one partition on your original drive? If so, you need elect to create an image of whole drive not the individual partitions otherwise TI wont copy the Master Boot Record.

    Regards

No just one partionsion. In fact checked the "entire drive" check box, but thanks for the comment. Yes, it does seem like it did nto get the boot recored, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how.

    Hello jkraus,

Thank you for choosing Acronis True Image (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).

We are really sorry for the inconveniences.

To make the destination disk bootable you may either boot from your Windows Rescue CD into Recovery Console and run fixmbr or delete all the partitions on your destination drive and restore the image then to the unallocated space.

    Thank you.
