Can you get an Opera trial version?

I don't use opera so I'm not sure. But IMHO I don't think there's any trial version. There's a free and paid version. The free version has a google advertisement and you must get the paid version in order to get rid of the ad.

If you want to try it out, you can download the latest version here or you can download the latest beta 8.0 here.
When registering you get rid of the ads, so you get more space to put your personal favourites. :) You also get additional support.
Try it out and see if you like it. ;)

Must have missed this one. :D
There's only one version of Opera. If you don't register, it stays free (with the ads). Upon registering you receive a key to unlock this free version. Bye bye ads. ;)

Firefox and Mozilla have been my browsers of choice for three years. I don't even use IE for WU. I have automatic updating disabled in XP Pro Services. I get my critical patches from MS download site.

I had Opera when it was version 4 and brand new. Then I never tried it again until recently. I was quite disappointed because it does not render my home site's pages properly. It gives me a horizontal scroll bar unless I don't use the text zoom. I can use text zoom in any Mozilla product up to 200% in the dslr forums and not get a horizontal scroll bar. I only need 130% text zoom but even that small amount in Opera produces a horizontal scroll bar. To me, when Opera first came out the primary reason to use it was to get the text zoom. Text zoom was a major reason I moved from IE three years ago to Mozilla. I was really surprised that text zoom is so bad now in Opera as that was a big reason people got it when it was 4.0. I don't know if I would like other aspects of the current Opera or not because when I saw it could not render my home site's forums properly, I never tried it any further.

Perhaps there is some setting I missed in Opera that would get rid of the horizontal scroll bar when using text zoom higher than the default. I think I recall this site rendered ok.

MAXTHON What else? Most bells and whistles for your money! (FREE!) More secure than IE and very easy to use as well as very stable.

Paid for Opera, long time ago, went back to IE, some time later, I didn't like the Opera user interface. Then I found Phoenix and followed the developments. I am a very happy Firefox user. Bad sites... bad luck for them. I'm even changing my online bank because of unsufficient (they are non-standard) support :)

I like the Opera beta(8.0).It's faster than what I expected!
For basic browsing I use Firefox sometimes also.

I have been using Maxthon (MYIE2) for a long time. It's got to be the best I have seen...

I've used Opera since v.6.01, and I particularly appreciate the way it recovers from a crash or power blackout (we get a few here, especially in winter) where it offers you the option of continuing where you left off browsing. In fact, I've got it set to start up that way every time -- gotta keep up with the latest StrongBad emails, etc. :D

Sadly, this forum seems to crash my v.7.54 when I log in -- it's not the only one to do it, either. So Firefox is my second choice. And I've yet to try Opera 8.0.

Back to Opera myself... very nice.

Other than that, I'm riding MooxFirefox.

So, it's Opera 80% of the time, Moox FF the other 20%

Not sure why Maxthon would be more secure than IE ?! Still so integrated to the global M$ system, so I still don't like it.

    Hi Rincewind

You should try 8.0, it's faster than 7.54 and stable, at least here it is. ;) :)

Ah, but is it faster than Opera 6.05? ;) I did try 7.x but the slower rendering speed and non-standard UI put me off (6.x had a no-skin option which worked with system theming software like WindowBlinds - 7.x's did not).

8.0 is faster than than the version six series opera, and personally I like the interface better than the earlier versions. Being a beta I have discovered a couple of small bugs but something I am sure will be fixed in the next release. I believe that it is worth the download.

Still using Internet Explorer 6.0 as my primary browser but am trying out Foxfire. Personally, I like Foxfire and especially its speed and the tabbed browsing, but have encountered several websites I go to regularly that don't display properly with Foxfire at this time. However, I think I still use IE more from force of habit - I click on its icon without thinking and then when I want to have multiple pages to move between, wonder why I didn't pull up Firefox

It's firefox not foxfire! I dont know why newbies keep getting it wrong.

In any case, have you considered changing the icon for firefox to that of IE? :)
