Sure. That said: missing seven days of new malware - and many new ones have been 'released' in the meanwhile - simply make this TDS3 missing the various ones[/b] released in this period. For sure I for one do believe th guys are entitled to a time off; well deserved! This period has been far too long though. No way to 'work up front' in case of new nasties. DCS would benefit in changing this - if ony for the sake of their software users depending on it and being vulnerable for those many new nasties in the meanwhile.

Hi TDS12, TDS3 detects many Trojans without the need fo updates due to it's multi engined detection methods. As I keep repeating if there was any dangerous ITW Trojans that needed an update it would be done. :D

If you say so. competitors have been adding at least 8+ new unique ones within last 12 hours - intradaily. One tends to believe that's for good/urgent reasons, don't you agree?

Not if TDS3 already has them in the current radius file, as Jooske said DCS is usually ahead of the game, you have to be a little careful here regarding Trojan names as many have multiple names as dreamed up by the varous AV / AT companies, so looking at TDS3's primary list may not actually tell you much as the name that DCS use may not be the same as those larger companies add them to their definitions.

Not sufficient when talking about new unique ones - those simply have to be databased first.

Has anybody that has been moaning actually been infected by a trojan that TDS hadn't been updated for

    If not then why panic

TDS is basically a trojan remover rather than a protector

Yes exec protection stops those in it's database from running, but doesn't stop them being downloaded or installed in the first place

If it's a dangerous trojan that was spreading quickly then ALL the antiviruses would have issued updates urgently that would prevent download and install

If you are sensible enough to buy and use TDS3 then you should be sensible enough to prevent any trojans getting to the computer in the first place by use safe computing methods

Personally and from a PR point of view, if this many customers (or potential customers) are concerned over the matter then I feel DiamondCS need to take this matter on-board and look at their update policy once more.

Also speaking personally I have a layered security setup with many overlapping prevention techniques and do not rely on just one or the other. Also like most who post here I have a high sense of what is risky surfing as opposed to safe surfing practices.

Oh... maybe they are madly working like little elves to bring us TDS4. While I love this program my anti spy and AV regularly give me the first heads up that there is a problem. I know this stuff has to overlap but I'm still waiting for TDS3 to give me the first warning and it doesn't look like it'll be this month at this rate.

I wish they'd update the unpacking ability. Someone mentioned this isn't a detection tool but a removal tool. I disagree but until the detection is updated they might be temporarily right ;)

I have been using TDS for about a year now and have been very happy with its results. So far it has only found 1 double extension and a stream that was 88bytes in size. No worries so far. Hmmmmm just maybe they will release the new version soon. :D

And: did any of those updated other softwares blink on finds --NEW threats!-- on your system TDS did not find? If so, were those genuine nasties and did you submit them to the TDS lab?
And: can you imagine the possibility other software is adding what is already in TDS detection for some time?
And: are the other companies softwares adding trojans/ worms/ spyware / adware / virus detection?

Well, one thing is clear: Diamond has a few very good advocates on this website... But that doesn't solve the feeling of some users.

It is the only anti-trojan program that has free daily database updates and is the only anti-trojan program supported by a fulltime team( from TDS-3 website)

It is not ridiculous at all, I have not seen one report from any licensed user of TDS3 failing to stop any new Trojans that have been reported as such by other AT's or other programs.

You should be able to get your "fix" tomorrow if it is necessary :D

I think we've all been spoiled with the regular every weekday updates Gavin/DCS provides us with ... Not to worry all ... As it has been said ... if there was an outbreak ... a new update would be released. Sit back and enjoy the Holiday Season ... The DCS Boys & Gals need a break too ... Just think about the every day effort they put forth ... they deserve a break :)

Lets not continue with the "What have you done for me lately" mentality. Rest Assured you remain Protected by the Best AT on the Market. :)

Happy New Year to the DCS Family. Enjoy Yourselves.

Yup - it's not a problem here at all. Everything else I've got has updated numerous times in this time-period (I always run EwidoSS resident alongside TDS).

Full scans with every one of them after each update hasn't revealed any infections (not even any false positives, glory-be-to-God! <g>).

Strangely enough, none of them claim to have "daily" updates. (That probably accounts for the fact of why they update throughout the holidays (GASP!) and weekends (GASP! #2) Pete

One thing to consider...TDS-3 has updates worked in advance, that's one thing that sets them apart from the competition. Let's say that they are worked a week in advace (or a month), whatever the case, that margin has to be shrinking since there haven't been updates for going on two weeks. That's just how margins work. Nevertheless...the recent "let up" is suspicious. Are they gearing up for a release of TDS-4o_O I would bet my paycheck that they aren't...and they won't be for quite some time.

Sorry my misplaced humour :) Updates should begin again tomorrow as far as I am aware. "Fix" was a reference to withdrawal symptoms i.e. ppl missing their updates. :)

It's real simple. If you're not gonna update mon-fri, then don't advertise that TDS-3 is "The only anti-trojan system in the world that is updated daily Mon-Fri". I don't see anything on the Products web page that mentions breaks for Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year's, or even Ground Hog Day. An anouncement in advance of a planned break would be the minimum I would expect.
