    Hi

I'm embarrassed to say that I've accidentally deleted the file 'mshta.exe' from my Windows/System32 folder. When starting my PC, I get a screen freeze and then the message 'Windows cannot open file : Microsoft Office.hta'.

I've reinstalled Windows service Packs 1 & 2 but no good.

Can you please help me get this file back?

    Thanks.

Try putting your Windows CD in the drive, then go to start, run, type "sfc /scannow" and hit enter (or click ok.) This will run the System File Checker, which should replace it and anything else that's been corrupted/changed.

My PC came 'out of the box' with Windows XP already installed. I don't have a back-up CD. Thanks anyway.

Then it probably has the Windows files on the harddrive, in which case just run 'sfc /scannow'

I've got two of that file.....both the same version. Did you delete both? If not, could maybe copy & paste?
