I am wondering with SpywareBlaster installed whether it is the culprit. My Automatic Updates with Norton Anti Virus are not working.

Well, to find out just disable SpywareBlaster's protection then try your Nortons Updates.

AS far as I can figure out with my system it is SpywareBlaster that is blocking NAV updates as when I disable it the updates proceed normally. Will this be fixed? Is there a workaround?

Which portion of SpywareBlaster are you disabling in order for it to work....ActiveX, Cookies or Restricted Sites. I have looked for a CLSID(ActiveX) in SpywareBlaster and also looked in the Restricted Sites. I was unable to find any entry that could be blocking NAV. Perhaps if you could narrow down for us which of the protections being disabled causes NAV update to work ?

If your attempting the NAV update via Internet Explorer....have you checked those settings to make sure it's not an IE setting ?

I simply did what was suggested and disabled all of the protection, rebooted, and suddenly NAV was immediately doing an auto download of new virus signatures which I know were available.

Next, i would renable all protection in SpywareBlaster and at the next NAV update, take it 1 step further as Bubba suggested by disabling each seperately(ActiveX, Cookies and restricted sites) to see where the problem lies exactly.

long time nav and spywareblaster user
it may or man not be spywareblaster
sometimes nav live update just gets obstinate

try going to symantic/ downloads/ intelligent updater
this will give you a fresh copy of the data base
not one that has been hotpatched forever
    ah ha
now you may find the live update will find an update which you download but as it installs it will give you an error that it could not install
    do NOT worry
when the live update DATE passes the intelligent updater DATE it will fix itself

I found the KAV would "prevent" live update from working
    tea timer?
maybe live update is just sensitive??

    maybe
Norton is like MS- it's always someone else's fault

i have used nis2004 for a year and recently upgraded to nis2005 and i have spywareblaster, adaware se, and spy s&d and i have had no problems with any of them causing any probs with nis at all. its all in how you set the prgs to work. and norton is nothing like ms. at least norton works.
