Well, For whatever reason, if I manually check for updates I get an "Access Denied" pop up. Was getting the same with the previous stable version. It seems the devs don't spend too much time developing the free version.
From Firetrust Support: "[...] Yes, sorry about that, this does happen with some installations... here's several options to try to fix this problem...... (below mentions Pro but free is the same) 1.) First, (with MWPro closed) if you go into C:\\ProgramData\\Firetrust\\updates\ and delete the files updates.aiu and updates.aiu.part (if present) See then if the updates work via Help>>Check for Updates. 2.) Possibly the update file is corrupted in your user files folder.... try copying updater.ini from help >> common files >> to help >> user files. To do this...... - Open MWPro, click, Help>>Common Files - Copy the "updater.ini" file to your desktop or another folder. - Click, Help>>User Files, - Minimise the folder that opens, - Click File>>Exit to close MWPro, - Maxamise that folder, - Move the "updater.ini" file into that folder. Restart MWpro and try updating again.... 3.) Possibly MW is not being allowed access to the updates folder for some reason.... please click, Settings>>General>>Updates and click Browse. Select your C: Drive and create a new folder named MWinstall (or whatever name you like) and click OK. Click Save and then try checking for updates again under Help>>Check for updates.[...]" #1 seems to have done the trick for me for now.
Is it normal to be prompted to update to an earlier version if we're running a beta? I was prompted to update to a build @anon posted about in July. I didn't realise that at the time, so an attempt to update failed with a message about a newer version being already installed.
No, but I have the auto update OFF and I check for updates manually. ------ If the annoying prompt to update continues, you may turn the auto update OFF.
The funny thing is, I was checking yesterday after I got the update system working and it said I had the latest version, but today it popped up with x.xx.41. I know you're pretty quick with updating us here, so if it does bother me Ill do as you suggest.
