At the time of writing this, the CCleaner builds page has CCleaner full and slim versions as version 7. Plus they are online installers of 1.7 MB in size The portable build is still giving 6.39 and is 81MB in size https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds
I have just downloaded and run the online installer of the v7 slim version. It installed quick. Won't be using it just yet. See 3 screenshots of it below.
I don't like it, I'll stick with the 6.39 portable for now. From your screenshots, it looks to me that you can also scan the registry.
@Triple Helix Not sure what you are doing different to what I did. I downloaded the slim build from the builds page to downloads folder on my PC. Then I just double clicked on the installer.
Try performing a new installation. If you have rules blocking CCleaner from connecting to its servers in the Hosts file, you must delete them. If you have blocked the software in the Firewall, you must delete the rules. If necessary, recreate the rules after installation.
Because the usual offline installers (for the free or paid versions) are gone. For v7, only the online installer exists.
In the CC forum, I'm reading all the negative comments about the new version. Can any forum members who use CC v.7 highlight a registry cleanup, if it is still available? TH.
@Sampei Nihira Just installed it again for you I cannot just yet see a way to just do a total registry clean only, instead I had to right-click on a ticked item and select to clean that item. I was shown what items had been cleaned in that selection by selecting the 3 dot dropdown which appeared after the clean. There seems to be no way to do a reg scan only and unselect/select the items you don't want cleaned.
1. The Slim version is Not so Slim as it offers to install Avast... 2. CCEnhancer and MoscaDotTo/Winapp2 do Not work with the newly arrived version of CCleaner.
Hi ArchiveX: As of today, if I go to the builds page at https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds the Download button for the: Standard and Slim builds both offer the same small 1.6. MB stub installer (i.e., an online download manager) named ccsetup_online_setup.exe. Legacy "Sunset" build has changed to a 84.3 MB full offline installer ccsetup_639_Win7.exe (i.e., Avast/Piriform has removed the SHA1-signed v5.64 full offline installer for Win XP and Vista). Portable build is still the old ~ 80 MB ccsetup639.zip. This suggests that going forward, Avast/Piriform will not be offering a Slim or Portable build for CCleaner v7.00 or higher and will only officially support Win 8.1 or Win 10 and higher. As of today I am still able to download the legacy Portable version of CCleaner v5.64 for Win XP and Vista (ccsetup564.zip) from the direct download link at https://download.ccleaner.com/portable/ccsetup564.zip. ----------- Dell Inspiron 15 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.6332 * Firefox v143.0.4 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.25080.5-1.1.25080.5 * Malwarebytes Premium v5.4.1.215-142.0.5389 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7783 * CCleaner Free Portable v6.39.11548 * HDCleaner Portable 64-Bit v2.091
the loader (icarus) loads several files from aws servers which are not usable. cc7 is not running here (in sandboxie). if this will be the future of cc7, good luck, without me.
It doesn't allow adding open/run to the recycle bin desktop item. Many older settings are missing or buried. Registry is on a tab in 'custom clean'. Startup options missing. Not quite ready for prime time. I miss the 6 already. There was no great need for being new and completely foreign. It's going to take a LONG time to get used to.
