Sounds like a solution nobody asked for to a problem it won't solve.

Basically. Might as well just go to iOS and enjoy the walled garden. Personally I am sick of smart phones in general.

You can certainly see why Google wants and apparently will now VERIFY developer apps outside Android. Heck the Play Store was mobbed for a long time until they cracked down on malware spreading apps. If you ask me they should have done that a long time ago because these days i doubt it will make all that much of a difference anyway.

I only ever got a smart phone to keep up with the people that text me. It got difficult on the old phones when you had to press 7 4 times to get the letter s. That said I'd prefer smart phones never existed.

Right there with you sir and the same reason for me. I'd prefer they did not exist either.

Well guys, no one is forcing you to use them.
You can buy a non-smart phone, often called a "dumb phone" or "feature phone," which focuses on core functions like calling and texting while offering features such as simple cameras or basic web browsing. Brands like Nokia, Punkt, and Light Phone offer various models, from budget-friendly options to premium, minimalist devices, and they are available at major retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart, as well as many online stores.

Meanwhile, this could turn Google into the effective gatekeeper for all apps on "certified" Android devices, which includes nearly every modern Android phone that hasn’t been rooted, aside from the likes of Huawei.

Can it be disabled in Android developer options?

Not the point. It's about people getting killed because of distracted drivers. People being rude in public. The downfall of society because of social media. People lacking education because they are watching tik tok videos instead of learning something useful.

Note: Some of those are not-binding or speculation

If that's will remain the case, then I understand it. There is some hazard when user installs unverified app. The best scenario would be that verified app can sideload other verified apps i.e. signed F-Droid can install signed openScale.
Additionally unsigned app could be sideloaded via adb.

Yes exactly, I fully agree. I'm so glad I grew up in a different time, that's what kept me from becoming a slave to this stupid smartphone stuff.

I'm quite worried about our youth, constantly checking their phones. I also hate it that companies try to force you to use their apps, like certain banks and supermarkets. But anyway, I believe this is OT.

F-Droid criticizes Google's anti-sideloading policy, calls for antitrust scrutiny.
