It will work until it doesn't work, when that day comes you should hope it doesn't mess up your computer.

In this case hopefully the restore of an image will save me. ;)

A question concerning the order of installation, especially to those who have positive experiences with Shadow Defender on Windows 11, 24H2:

At the moment I still use Windows 11, 23H2 and Shadow Defender version 1.4.0.680.

Obviously there are now two options to perform the transition:

    A) Uninstall SD 1.4.0680 -> Installation of Windows 24H2 -> Installation of SD mod. 1.5.0.726 *

    or:

    B) Uninstall SD 1.4.0680 -> Installation of SD mod. 1.5.0.726 -> Installation of Windows 24H2

Should I prefer the one or the other option or will it make (presumably) no difference?

    ______________
*) I refer to the modified version of Shadow Defender 1.5.0726 as described and offered for download in post #28 respectively post #32.

Funny and (timely) this would be mentioned and commented on in this thread, at this time.

On the same Windows 11 23H2 AND also a Dell i had been using a rather outdated Exe Interceptor/Monitor that recently quit working courtesy MS bullying tactics, the same tactics they pawn off as UPDATES  While Shadow Defender STILL WORKS, albeit with the tinkering necessary to have it function normally on 23H2. Without having to backtrack which horrid UPDATE is the culprit, i find myself simply reverting to a previous backup image to set things right again.

LONG LIVE THE BACKUP SOLUTION- Not only due to Ransomeware BUT also now MS's distributed Windows System.

Just to answer my own question:

I did it in this order:
Concerning the Core Isolation Memory Integrity: In Windows 24H2 it remained automatically disabled (as it was in 23H2). So there was nothing to do in this respect.

The installation of Shadow Defender ran without any problems. And Shadow Defender itself until now does its job exactly as it did on former versions of Windows: excellent. :thumb:

Thanks again to all who informed and helped to perform this transition to 24H2 (especially by providing the necessary setup-file of SD). :) Without your support the transition would not have been possible.

Of course- Specifically, now Windows 11 constant updates many of which continue to disrupt normal workflow of SAFE applications including Security Programs. Knocking off Shadow Defender from functioning as intended one of those.

I never accept what they peddle as an UPDATE without clear-eyed skepticism.

A series of previous clean backup images DEFEATS their aims of malfunctioning long depended on good applications users depend on.

Great News! Thanks to you as well for not throwing in the towel. When or if i decide on a new laptop i fully expect to have Shadow Defender an integral important addition with that one too.

As an encouragement and reminder to myself, i copied The STEPS in this topic into a local ReadMe file simply because it's easy to forget sometimes with these gadgets.
