If you don’t like making claims based on assumptions, why not actually try what you’re hypothesizing to determine whether this is a real risk? Make an image backup of a small hidden partition if you want a small file to work with. Or an F&F backup of a single small source file since MIG covers MRBAK(X) files too.
May I interfere with a completely different question? But I think that by experts it can be answered quickly, without causing a long discussion: On my new PC I had (and have) installed AOEMI Backupper as image software. Now I also installed Macrium Reflect 8 (transferring my license from my old computer). Can two image programs coexist on the same PC without conflicts? Of course I will not plan any tasks carried out by both of them at the same time. Just I would like to create a backup once with the one and once with the other to find out which suits me better. And can I add Macrium's Windows Boot Menu too, even when AOMEI's one already exists? Thank you in advance.
There should be no problem in what you're planning... and a good idea not to run them both at the same time. They should work but both use the Windows VOLUME SHADOW COPY service, and that service does have some quirks when pushed to the hilt.
@Peter 123 , I have paid versions of Macrium Reflect 8.1 and Easeus Todo Backup Home, the latter of which I have lifetime licenses with free updates. I alternate my weekly full system imaging of my two computers between the two backup programs. I like to have the redundancy that it is highly unlikely that backups from both would be corrupt, but I keep the two most recent of both, on an internal computer drive, and on an external HDD. I have emergency disks for both programs. I have been doing this for over ten years. I have never had an issue with them coexisting. Just my experience, YMMV. Have a great day. Regards, Phil
I have 8 (eight) backup/recovery programs on my system and have never had a problem with any of them fighting. Acadia
It's not the multitude of backup/imaging problems that I worry about, it's the ability of all of them to use the VSS (Volume ShadowCopy Service) of Windows successfully... somewhat simultaneously). VSS is not quite as robust as many believe... it has pressure points, especially if some of its "controls" aren't tweaked properly (which very few users tend to even try and do). It has its limits... or, at least, appears to have them (Shadow copies not being deleted properly when requested, not enough space allocated for simultaneous copy operations, etc.).
Yeah, that's just dumb. They will all want to use services/vss. Chances are very high that they are going to conflict, and when they do you might not even know it. Pick one, or two.
i'm not sure if this is the right place but i just recently got 2 internal nvme ssd's on top of the one that i alreday had but is there a way to backup multiple drives in Macrium Reflect 10 and what about restoreing a backup will it restore only one drive or all of them
