And so we get left behind by the next generations... I was listening to a psychologist who said that studies have shown that kids see phones as extensions of themselves, almost as part of their brain, and not like how we view them as tools to be used. AI will make (is making?) that even more so.
https://phys.org/news/2025-07-teens-ai-advice-friendship.html This hits both Privacy and Security ... Privacy: All AI is owned by corporations. Everything you feed it is captured, stored and sold to 3rd parties. It is also available to many government agencies. Security: AI gets things wrong. AI can get dystopian. These heartfelt discussions with AI, be it trivial or deeply emotional could be used negatively against the teens when they grow up and apply for loans, employment, insurance, travel and whatever else they need to exist in the real world. AI technologies can be used to do good (in mental health) - being a 'corporate friend' is not one of them.
Isn't it a common thing when somebody is used to using any tool, is it? I remember reading this post few days ago. Coincidentally same day YouTube recommended me a short from "RedBullMotorsports". One of the comments had sentence "When man and machine become one." There are some people who self-host open-source LLMs. I don't do this though (yet?)
