    Hi all,
I've just encountered my first problem with this (not b2) LnSSvc.
I'm on W2k SP4 and have installed ewido security suite (http://www.ewido.net/). That suite has a "guard" module that does live/on-access scanning and automatic updates. But upon reboot it crashes. I have not yet verified whether it's the auto-update function alone that is triggering the crash, or the service itself.
But the only remedy was to stop using LnSsvc. I can still use LnS started by registry key without the crash happening (I can even use the auto-update function then), so I don't think it is related to LnS itself.
In case you cannot reproduce it (ESS has a trial for download which offers the guard feature during trial), can you give any advice on how I should proceed?

I've also informed Peter of ewido (fish25 on this board), but I thought, since LnSSvc is "offically beta" this is where I should start.

    Thanks for any help.
    Andreas

FYI, I trialled ewido briefly for a few days and never had any problems with crashes. That's not to say that there isn't a problem with LnSSvC though.

I'm running XP SP2, KAV 5 Personal 5.0.227, LnS beta Svc.

update: I'm not using LnsSvc right now and start LnS via run key, but apparently it is the order in which ewidoguard and LnS are started: Right now the guard had an update and re-started (while LnS was loaded) - and it crashed again. (Just disappeared, with an ewido message "the guard has crashed, your computer is no longer fully protected") This must be the first time the guard was trying to start after LnS - it is started as a service and is the first thing appearing on login and I haven't yet re-started it manually.

So, not a LnSSvc issue. Maybe nothing with LnS in particular, maybe yes (could be a "race for the lower layer" issue or a firewall problem on ewidoguard's part).

What are the kind of crashes you are experiencing ?

If it is system crashes (BSOD) then a Minidump should be created and you can send it to me (looknstop@soft4ever.com).
If it is application crashes, then you should have some DrWatson logs that you can send me.

    Regards,

    Frederic

If these logs are readable in text format, yes you can send it to me.

The new beta drivers (3.04 d1 or d2) could be involved in these crashes. If you are using them, I suggest you try to come back to the official driver.

I'm not sure what logs I have - DrWatson usually starts, but where do I have to look for his logs?
I will have a look for ewido crashlogs, didn't think of it.

Usually, DrWatson log is a file like "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINNT\Documents\DrWatson\user.dmp"
