I'm seeing issues with wireless mice on a desktop and a laptop in the office. Both Windows 11. The mouse pointer will skip around and freeze and trigger gestures. This started yesterday and continues today. There haven't been any updates on the last 24 hours that I can find unless it is somehow related to Edge, which is not running. I've seen this before with a previous cumulative update but again, I have not seen any updates in the last couple of days. A wired mouse seems to work fine. No solution yet. Is anyone else seeing this?

I was seeing similar things going on with my wife's old Inspiron notebook this afternoon. Her laptop has Windows 10, but it sounds like she was having similar issues. I could restart Windows and it seemed to be okay, but a few minutes later it would start going crazy. I ended up restoring an image, and so far it appears to be behaving normally. I did run Windows Update until all updates had been installed. So far, so good....

Thanks for confirming. Sounds similar with a reboot clearing it up, for a short while. This happened a few months back with a particular Windows update (can't name it without a lot of digging) but this time it's been a bit since there was one and uninstalling the last one doesn't fix it. I'm not wanting to wipe machines until I can positively identify what it is. It's doesn't affect most of the PCs but its the same on the ones it does.

Is this with a trackpad or a wired mouse?

Wireless mice in both cases. One desktop and one a laptop. Laptop has a trackpad. Turning it off helps but does not completely resolve it. Using a wired mouse on the desktop seems to stop it. Having Logitech Options installed seems to make it worse. It would seem that gestures are being triggered without actually doing the things that should trigger them.

I had an issue on a Win 10 laptop yesterday when using a trackpad and trying to put the curser on something would result in it darting away. Plugging in a wired mouse allowed me to do what I wanted.
    Interesting.

I had similar issues with KB5048667 back in December. It makes me feel like they have slipped in an update somewhere that breaks things again. It wasn't KB5055627 as uninstalling it did nothing. It just came out of nowhere last week on machines that were working fine previously. Strangely my laptop works fine and is seemingly unaffected. I don't know if it matters that the machines having issues are Dells.

Microsoft adds Copilot to the Windows 11 context menu, but you can disable it.

I use notepad to strip the formatting for pasting text from another site onto a forum. No idea why they need to change it.
At least give an option of some sort.

Just read this. Will have to wait and see as I don't have this build of Win 11 yet.

I have a VM on the Canary channel. I had the version of Notepad specified and didn't see any options related to those settings. I checked for updates and got 11.2504.52.0 and still see nothing. That said I pasted in formatted text and it pasted as plain text so it appears this change is not rolled out by version number alone.

Windows 11, periodic check, 24H2 update, and lots of fail

Here's something nice. And by that, I mean, not. This is my periodic review of Windows 11 following June 2024 patching, including a long and messy update process with failed updates and version 24H2 installation and setup, privacy baseline, new unwanted uninstallable apps, removal of said apps from a Linux session, AI components, optional components, numerous issues in the Administrator account like messed up visuals, missing save dialog windows and right-click functionality, unsuccessful system repair attempt, blocked drivers, some other observations, and more. Take a look, if you like.

P.S. An article on new vs old Notepad coming soon, too.

    Cheers,
    Mrk
