About 5 months ago, the Windows 10 on my computer was updated to Windows 11. Since then I was always having problems with the Windows Update. I blocked it so not to have any automatic update. Yesterday, when I turned on my computer, the update was immediately activated, and after a while, I received a message saying that the update couldn't be installed and that my computer would return to its previous state.

After re-activation, the mouse and keyboard were disconnected. Same for all USB’s ports. I reactivated the computer and booted into the BIOS (using the F2 on the keyboard), the mouse and keyboard were connected (within the BIOS).

What should I do to reactivate the USB connections, in order to connect the mouse and the keyboard

The issue is that after the recovery I got the Desktop but couldn't use either the mouse or the keyboard to get access to any folder on the desktop. I inserted an external usb stick to check all the usb ports, no connection. i.e. I have no access to the Device Manager.

It will be extremely difficult to do anything without a keyboard and mouse as I am sure you know.

So they keyboard works before you get into Windows? There may be an option for you to access safe mode from there. Have you tried holding the power key down and restarting 3 or 4 times straight away to see it it offers you the WinRE recovery options?

Someone like @Brian K or @TheRollbackFrog may have more ideas to help.

    1. I accessed the Safe Mode - same problem
    2. As I mentioned in my thread above, The Windows update was always on OFF, since I knew there was an issue with the Windows 11 update. When I powered on the PC it activated suddenly and since the update couldn't be installed it returned the PC to its previous state. This process has disabled all the USB ports on my PC meaning mouse and keyboard become unresponsive.
    3. I booted the PC using a Ventoy usb stick. The PC booted properly. Opened a Strelec ISO folder from this usb. The mouse and the Keyboard were fully responsive. When I rebooted through the PC hard drive the problem remains.

Oh, then everything should be clear - your Windows is completely damaged and the best thing to do would be to do a completely clean installation, you can only keep your personal files from the old one, but nothing else. After the installation, you may need to update drivers and controllers or may be needed add some missing drivers.

How to do a clean install if the mouse is not responsive?
I have a Rufus usb stick with Win 11 mounted on it. I created it one and half month ago. How can I use it?

It's your LIVE Windows installation that refuses your mouse/keyboard function. The version on the Rufus stick should be fully operational (all mouse and keyboard support in place just like with the Ventoy supported Strelec version).

USA still the best. But barely.
And afaik there's no disabling WU in W11. Only can be delayed for a maximum of 5 weeks. Correct me if I'm wrong.
