Does this forum offer such a feature? So with that I mean, that everytime you post a link, it will automatically generate a small preview to the linked website? https://xenforo.com/community/threa...ill-generate-a-preview-or-stay-a-link.218657/
Ugh, MalwareTips Forums does that. I really dislike it. If I post at MalwareTips Forums, I use unfurl="false" so that a link doesn't generate a preview. Like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flower If link preview was to be introduced at Wilders, I would really hope a preference was offered to disable link preview.
Yes, perhaps it could be optional. I do kinda like it on MT and the SpyShelter forum though. And besides this, it's handy for people who post stuff.
BTW, what exactly don't you like about it? I'm not talking about the quotes from the article, but just a small preview, see screenshots from the SpyShelter forum. And why don't moderators respond to this topic?
I can only speak about link preview at MalwareTips Forums. MalwareTips Forums is the only forum that I visit daily where I see automatic link preview is used extensively. What I do not like about link preview, firstly, it seems lazy. The poster doesn't have to think about what info to offer with a posted link, and the reader is less stimulated to follow the link to see what it is about. Secondly, threads look cluttered and messy with extensive use of link preview. I prefer posts for which the poster had to think about what to write, and that offer a clean URL, no preview. That is why I use unfurl="false" when I post at MalwareTips Forums.
Because what you are asking has been explained before: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/instant-email-notifications.452515/#post-3165112
