I wonder how this admin protection feature is different to UAC? I always disable UAC because it's annoying as hell, and I don't see how having to use Windows Hello for every admin task (like installing apps) is any less annoying.

This would be amusing, if it weren't going to cause so many more headaches. Just think: Microsoft has borked itself out of borking itself, an existential crisis if ever there was one

Windows 11 - There's still nothing worth my time

Let's enjoy ourselves. Or rather, not. To wit, a short review of Windows 11 following December 2024 patching, including fast updates, unchanged privacy configuration, extremely slow Windows Explorer with no option to disable the modern interface, numerous ergonomic and aesthetic problems, declining market share of the operating system, contraditions and non sequiturs in TPM requirements, various quicks, other observations, and more. Take a look, or perhaps, not.

Microsoft makes it harder to install Windows 11 without internet, but it is still possible

I don't know why they say "it is still possible." It works every time and you don't need to enter the Registry. A Win11 install without internet installs in half the time of an install with internet. You get a Local Account. That's my preference.

It works on MBR and UEFI systems.

Wow, so Windows Explorer is still crap on Win 11? That was the most shocking part for me when I switched from Win 8.1 to Win 10, I noticed that Win Explorer has this weird and annoying delay when displaying files, especially when it's sorted by date. And it's not caused by Win Defender, it seems to be some type of bug.

I can confirm the information in stapp's post about oobe\bypassnro not working correctly with a recent Win11 ISO. I tested with the latest ISO from UUP dump.

    But...
    https://www.windowscentral.com/soft...ss-for-windows-11-has-already-been-discovered
...does work and it's fast. A Win11 install took 9 minutes. A plus is the Location tab is present in the System folders. It was missing when I did an install with internet yesterday.

Actually it keeps getting worse. I would ditch it but I haven't found a replacement I like.

Looks nice if not a little pricey. I will test it out though.

As for the Windows 11 File Explorer, I just discovered Wintoys and you can set File Explorer to use the classic interface. This enables the Windows 10 version. Seems to work and I have no issues so far and no lag like the Windows 11 version. I hope Microsoft doesn't do something to break this but it is an acceptable solution for me and doesn't cost anything.

Oh nice I may check this out. Did you install WinToys from the MS Store or Github?

    Assuming you mean this? httpx://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9p8ltpgcbzxd?hl=en-US&gl=US

Yes, and I installed the one from the Store. I assume that one would update from the Store if there are any.
