First of all I have to apologize for my wording. I should not get so angry. But I cannot stand it when a company is making such mess and is contradicting itself so much...

Thanks Ron for that link! But some time ago I posted already something similar. It is outdated because MZ has in the meantime released TB 115.18.0 ESR which is what I have now.

Thanks JR! Yes, that is what I was referring to. They wrote there:
So, they say on 7 Jan 2025 that bugs are fixed in TB 115.19. But there is NO TB 115.19 !!! I even tried it via the internal updater. My 115.18 is the latest at the moment.

Moreover that link "References" is still not working. It doesn't exist.

I cannot help it. It is not me. It is MZ that is responsibel for this mess.

The Jan 7th CVE lists two bugs that were patched in TB 115.19, TB 128.6 among others, but if you notice that there was no TB 128.6 on Jan 7th. TB 128.6 was released on Jan 8th. I am guessing that they planned to release TB 115.19 on Jan 8th as well but due to some last minute issue withheld the release. It should be released soon. And even if TB 115.19 is skipped in favor of TB 115.20 due to that last minute issue, the bug fix from Jan 7th CVE would still be included in the code.

    Raza,
Give us the link to the public announcement by MZ in which they explain it in detail and the date of such announcement.
Maybe they also explained there why they gave a not existing link (the "References" link).

@FanJ, I don't have a link but something similar has happened once or twice with Firefox updates, where a changelog was posted but the actual update was withheld due to a last minute bug.

While reading the release notes for TB 115.18.0esr I noticed the following line: "Thunderbird 115.18.0esr is the final release of Thunderbird 115". I do not closely follow TB development so I am not a 100% sure, but the above statement seems to suggest that 115.18 is the last version of 115 line and there will be no further updates for that line. So this is probably why there was no TB 115.19 released on Jan 8th. I recommend upgrading to TB 128 line to receive further security updates.

i wont bet a dime that .19 or .20 will arrive.
first release of tb 115 was june'23
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/thunderbird-stable-releases.377000/page-23#post-3154363

knowing that each esr based build has 12+3 months - tb 115 is now 18 months old and thus 3 months beyond its regular EOL. furthermore mozilla announced that tb wont have the elongated cycle as firefox 115.

although the advisory told us about .19 there exists no rc on server.
to underline this, read here - 4 weeks no new content
    https://hg.mozilla.org/releases/comm-esr115/
    while 128 is supported
    https://hg.mozilla.org/releases/comm-esr128/

i would say: that's it, finished, eol

Here we go again, the left hand at Mozilla does not know what the right hand is doing.

    Post from Ron at https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...ecurity-advisories.389983/page-9#post-3222818

    We see there link https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/security/advisories/mfsa2025-08/
    Mozilla Foundation Security Advisory 2025-08
Security Vulnerabilities fixed in Firefox ESR 115.20

    OK, we see there:
Lets go to that reference: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?bug_id=1936601,1936844,1937694,1938469,1939583,1940994
But that link does not exist:
Whatever, they don't know what they are doing, or don't talk to eachother, or whatever. And there is no Thunderbird 115.19 or Thunderbird 115.20.
This Mozilla company is a completely mess; they themselves don't know what they are doing .....

sounds weird, and it is. i have asked elsewhere and i got returned that .18 is the last mentioned version in release notes - where other builds are not relevant. it might be that an AI is creating such reports. anyhow, anger wont help no one here out. this thread should sticked with the latest release which is .18 and look forward to v128.

edit: out of curiosity, its the automatic messaging system, which create such content, which lead to irritating thoughts. 115.18 is THE end, please accept and step forward.

Then it is very, very simple: they should stop using that failing automatic messaging system, and/or improve it, correct their false statements in their official announcements, and apologize in public!
    No more, no less!

i have asked to change or ignore this tb build - the answer was no. (informal question). sorry, cant tell you other. maybe somewhere into deep where non of us can look the devs have code which get never released, but got the fixes also autimically. a lot stuff on mozilla servers seems very automated.

OK, thanks for asking and for your post; appreciated :thumb:

It is what it is. If Mozilla wants to publish wrong statements (at least for the general public; maybe not for themselves in some hidden place as you wrote), and wants to contradict themselves in public, then what can we do?

    a preview to thunderbird
    https://whattrainisitnow.com/calendar/

ofc this is firefox. but as visible 128 esr run out of support with firefox = thunderbird 140.
so in june, latest in june, thunderbird ESR channel may lifted to rapid release, if tb goes not to another ESR instance v140 - i would say. and i am not sure about TB 140 ESR.

currently i run TB 128, and TB nightly (currently 13:cool:, with no addons or special hacks. no issues that far.

again to mention that thunderbird 115 has ended. no matter if there exist some code behind with newer version numbers, there exist no release for it.
and users with earlier than 115.13 will have issues with extensions because the certificate runs out in may.
