Someone posted a "malware" programmed in Fortran. When that "malware" was posted on MT forum, of course i instantly tested it. Comodo Viruscope nailed it and my Trend Micro Antivirus(no hypersensitive mode enabled) blocked it as "Suspicious File Blocked". This Trend Micro detection was HEU_AEGIS_HttpDownloader. But what i understand about this particular "malware", it does not even connect outside? Anyways, props to Comodo and Trend Micro for blocking it(before any VT detections).

Has anyone had problems with this newer version installing? When I click it, it starts up, but just sitting there in memory and won't finish installing. After like 3 or 4 minutes.

My older version updated to 12.2.2.8012 yesterday, not sure if this update fixed the containment issue.

    @Mr.X
Many,Many, Thank yous for the links,....

I guess you have to disable the antivirus parts.
Because, all I want is the Comodo Firewall only,is there work around?
Or can I disable the antivirus parts?

    Does anybody know about that:)?

And will it allow to updates, Comodo Firewall, with having to uninstall and/or reinstall?

Any conflict with other security software, such as Malwarebtyes, ect....

Again, I really appreciate your help!!! With the above,....

Hi Moose! First off, if you have the older version of Comodo installed, please uninstall it first (HiBit Uninstaller does a real nice job).

Second, the current version of Comodo is 12.3.4.8162. It comes in 2 flavours- CIS Pro and CIS Premium. You will want CIS Premium as you can then uncheck the AV component in the Components tab on 2nd screen and just have the Firewall installed. Note that CIS Pro does not have that option so will install the AV.

Also, the Firewall comes with VirusScope and Cloud Lookup which takes up no space and will not depend on any downloaded signatures.

The direct link to CIS Premium is here:

    http://download.comodo.com/cis/download/installs/9070/standalone/cispremium_installer.exe

As to adding another AV to Comodo Firewall, I would suggest staying with Windows Defender which co-exists nicely with CF and is fairly good at detection malicious files; for those that it does not, CF will be there to catch it if it fails.

Hi CS.. would something like ConfigureDefender be of any benefit to optimise the Defender settings? Would there be any conflict or advantages to be had in such a setup, especially with UAC disabled?

Hi Dear Moosie! I actually posted the link to the new build of Comodo on the UTube thread but they deleted it! Anyway, here it is:
    https://download.comodo.com/cis/download/installs/9060/standalone/cispremium_installer.exe

As you just want the Firewall and not the AV, choose to uncheck the AV thingy in the components tab at the start of installation.

OK, I installed CIS2025 on my wife's laptop, and forgot to uncheck the AV option.. uninstalled with REVO, installed again with AV unchecked but it still installed the AV option and not the FW only option.. what am I missing? Is there something in TEMP or somewhere that is allowing this to happen? thanks in advance.

After you uninstalled with Revo all traces should have been gone (but obviously not). Can you confirm that upon a re-install that you used the CIS Premium version and not the CIS Pro?

If you indeed did, perhaps running the Comodo Uninstaller tool after Revo (or even prior to) would help.

I believe it was the Premium version... I shall double check though, and try the Comodo Uninstaller tool.. if nothing works, is it ok to disable the AV part, or is that not a desirable option?

Hi CS.. the uninstaller just loads a note saying it can't install, and the CIS premium link you posted comes back can;t install as it's not signed..
re install.. uncheck AV.. still installs full AV suite.. is there a way to permanently disable the AV part from the REG?

I think (I hope) I see an issue with the uninstall tool. The link that I gave above was not the current one, and does indeed error out when run. Although I hate to do this to you, but if you have a chance try the uninstallation again with an updated Uninstall tool; this one has a Comodo signature and I verified that it will (unlike the other) work on the current Comodo build:

    http://download.comodo.com/cis/download/installs/ciscleanuptool/CisCleanupTool_x64_3.1.0.45.exe

Also, I note that you are using Revo. I personally prefer HiBit uninstaller which does a real nice job in uninstalling applications. if you have the time and desire to try it:
    1). Start HiBit
2). choose Comodo and choose uninstall.
3). when Comodo wants to reboot, let it BUT do not close HiBit
4). After system boots back up, wait a little bit until Hibit re-opens and gives the option to scan for any remnants left.
5). After this you can try the above Comodo uninstaller.

Then try the CIS Premium installer with the AV unchecked in the Components tab.

Hi CS.. I managed to fix it by going to Installed Apps and clicking Uninstall and then Selecting Change and deselecting AV.
I have saved the CIS uninstaller and Hibit for future use.. Thanks.

Hi CS.. uninstalled with Hibit, as I wasn't happy with how it was running.. CIS uninstaller still not working though.. but CFW now running as it should..

Excellent, and thanks for getting back! HiBit does quite a good job as an uninstaller and has a bunch of other useful thingies under the Tools menu. Also the developers seemingly take things seriously as there are frequent updates to the application.

An excellent program but as a general warning to everyone, be careful with the registry cleaner. It tends to break the ability for Edge to update.
