I use Keepass2Android Password Safe on my phone. I've been using it for years.

I also use KeePass2Android. No problems after many years.

The security of the phone itself is more important than the security of an app. The phone should receive the monthly Android security patches regularly. Also, is some phones is possible to keep the app in a safe location (e.g. Samsung Secure Folder), which increases security.

I use KPass (for Android)...very good and better IMHO than KeePass2Android, which I used previously.

I've never used KeePassDX so can't comment in it. I'm perfectly happy with Keepass2Android Password Safe as a companion to KeePass.

Don't fear getting independent either. Just because Google pulls stuff off the play store doesn't mean there is a problem. You can locate trusted and proven versions of keepass and download apks from sources that are verified. Further you can use VirusTotal to do scans of the apk's looking for anything amiss. Virus Total uses about 60+ scanning engines.

Many times the play store (firestick does the same thing trying to control what you can load) just wants control. Sideloading apk's is very simple. My Androids and my Firesticks have MANY sideloaded apps. Take back control because that is mostly why they do it.

Dont know the reason it was removed, but I have both the standard keepassdroid app or whatever its called and the newer keepassdx.

Consider them safer than all the cloud based password managers.

    They should be on fdroid.

Last updated Nov 21, 2023. A wee bit, not really outdated though. It works, does the job.

Excluding the Jun 23, 2024 last updated date. What gives KeePassDX the advantage over Keepass2Andriod Password Safe?

    mantra,

Just do a search for an apk for the file you want and your browser will populate with several choices. Warning lower in this post!!

Here are a few sites where I have had good luck with apks and find their stuff decent.

    https://apkpure.com

    https://www.apkmirror.com

    https://f-droid.org

    a zillion more!!

    BEFORE INSTALL:

ALWAYS USE VIRUS TOTAL TO SCAN YOUR APK FILES AFTER DOWNLOADING THEM as per the link below. VirusTotal uses 60+ scanning engines and can be trusted. Deep coders abound that use VT for scans. Its free.

    https://www.virustotal.com

It is not that difficult to create your own apk from an android application. I create my own as a tester of "things". This is likely beyond where you want to travel in this thread.

Finally I will assume you know how to sideload an apk onto your android. Super simple but I have done it too many times to count. LOL!

I use rclone for Android, mount mega, and use that space for the database file.
