If I understood that correctly. I'm having the opposite problem. I want all my downloads to go to the Windows downloads folder. And I set it as such. But it always downloads to C:\Users\..........\Downloads\Youtube Downloader HD 5.8.2. Youtube Downloader is a file folder in my Windows downloads folder. I just want downloads to be saved in the Windows downloads folder not the Youtube Downloader folder.
I don't have this issue so it's hard for me to offer any advice which may work All I know is that (as in one of the posts) I first used 'save as' to direct downloads to win downloads folder, then after that I just use 'save'.
@zapjb I remember having the same issue as yours, if i recall multiples things can cause that : - Set your prefered download folder in download settings (Windows download folder for you), close the browser and reopen-it, check if the setting of your downloaded location preference is still the same. clear your history close vivaldi and check again. - Don't know which is your OS language, but for example for me this happening : French OS, i want to download to Bureau, so when i select the folder in Vivaldi it's like my username/Desktop but it should be my username/Bureau, so i also have this bug. - Set your prefered download location, tic all possible options in vivaldi download settings, close it and reopen, download 1 or 2 file without changing settings (always point to your windows download folder), after that set your prefered options (untic what you don't want), and check again. It should work now, if not you can contact vivaldi team.
seems that vivaldi is using the origin names of windows (maybe from registry), not the localized (with desktop.ini) is also use Linux where desktop is called "Schreibtisch", erm, what? even in windows in german it is called "desktop". if i will safe something in my "Bureau" i physically need to go to work. "bureau" for me is "Büro", "Office", but not the desktop. pretty much confusing.
How do you have this thing there? You put "Vivaldi keeps changing default download location" as the title and then you start talking about where "Youtube Downloader HD 5.8.2." saves files? You should still be talking about the settings of Youtube Downloader HD 5.8.2. and where it puts downloaded files. There the Vivaldi is not involved at all, even when you uses browser extension.
