View attachment 278400 On my laptop I got for some years Windows 10 O.S.. The start menu was quite similar to the old Windows 7.
Yesterday I updated it to Windows 11 and got "two" adjacent start menu as per the attached picture.
The old (previous) one remained and a new one built close to it. Now I got two "Start" buttons and "two "Search"
I would like to get a start menu same as the classical (new) Windows 10 .

Wow, your as experimental as i am when it comes to customizing plain default Windows of any series. On ALL my Windows 8.1 the start menu on those are fabulous animation of a spinning ball (when hovered) (turns 180 and back) with MS colors courtesy an older http://www.classicshell.net/ program i used for years since 8.

I will add i am on Windows 11 continuously now myself. I don't rightly know what to suggest (others will chime in for you on this) but there is a setting in Win 11 that will move the Win 11 start menu button all the way to the LEFT of your taskbar.

I just discovered the other day that a nice Windows XP program named Madotate WORKS! on Windows 11 that minimizes with alpha transparency (see thru) how ever many windows are open on desktop, and they fold sideways in 3D. A real jewel way ahead of it's time and a perfect compliment now to Windows 11.

    Hi
from one issue to a bigger one.
I left for approx. one hour the laptop with the power on andwith the new installed Windows 11 running (as in the thread above).
when I came back I got a black screen stuck with "Windows is resuming". I understood that the laptop went into hibernation. I held the power button down for a few seconds , the laptop started
(showing it is going to start to Windows 11) but immediately I got a black screen (BSOD) with only the mouse cursor shown on it.
I tried to boot in Safe Mode (F8, Shift + F:cool:, thru the Bios (F12, Delete, F2) in vain. I suppose (IMHO) that this is due to lack of compatibility of the laptop hardware with Windows 11, even-though it was a Microsoft "suggestion / advice" (to Update to Windows 11) when I updated the previous program.
    any suggestion?

    Hi
    Me again.
I was at a loss and decided not to give up especially when I saw the mouse cursor moving on the black screen I understood that my laptop is still basically functional
I continued to play for an hour with the Start button using very long presses. When suddenly it resurrected, showed “Windows 11” and then immediately froze in the initial image. Then I realized that the computer could be saved.

I inserted a memory stick with a Windows 10 O.S. Restarted the laptop patiently several times (clicking F12 key) until it shows the BIOS. Boot thru the O.S. to “Repair this computer” with the attempt to reach the System Restore, but the S.R. showed only “Windows 11”.

... I remembered that I had a backup that I made about three months ago (because I haven't used this laptop for a long time) and I tried with a lot of patience (and persistence) to get again the BIOS after inserting a new STRELEC usb (I mounted a week ago following EASTER praise for this WinPe in “backup, imaging & disk mgmt “ recent thread ) and restored my old W10 (I lost just some files). (Thanks EASTER)

I will never touch Windows 11 it's a “monster” (lol)

Note: after the recovery, I open the “Windows Update” and got again the Microsoft “recommendation” to update to W11 !!!! (See attached picture).
I clicked “Stay on with W10 for now” ‘ and got a new windows (see picture).......

It appears you've found a solution, but out of curiosity are you using Open-Shell? If so, what I would've suggested is to disable it and see if the problems persist. If everything was okay, there might be some settings in Open-Shell that needed tweaking.

Possibly even "Classic Shell" - my eyes aren't as sharp as they once were but the colour gradient of the logo appears to be the old version rather than the newer orange to purple ?
