Something has changed in this process... don't know when. But now, when the Emergency Disk (Recovery Media) is created on a UFD... the reason you can't see anything is because the build has created all HIDDEN folders. If you turn on view your hidden files, the build will be there. They might have done this to protect their build content from tinkering. I don't know when this changed as I don't use a UFD Emergency Disk anymore (only ISOs and WIMs). I will check out that media for you and let you know the results... and also find out why the change from the Hasleo Devs.
The "blind" Emergency Disk BOOTs just fine, as expected. As soon as I hear more from their Team, I'll report back.
Thanks for the reply TRF. Show file extensions and show hidden files are always turned on on all my machines. I didn't see any on the usb. But if I unhide 'protected operating system files' I see them. Odd indeed if they chose to hide them by default. When making anything like that I always check the usb to see the files are there. That's what made me wonder what was happening
@stapp - that still may be an issue (they may not know it's happened ). I'll letcha know when I hear from them.
Here is the download link for V4.8 Beta 1 (30 May 2024) https://www.easyuefi.com/backup-software/downloads/Hasleo_Backup_Suite_Free_4.8_Beta_1.exe
I am still using version 4.5.0.0 since May 1. I didn't upgrade to 4.5.1.0. 4.5 has been solid for me, it just works. When 4.8 release build comes out, I'll likely try that, but I am very happy with 4.5 at this time.
Just so you know, v4.5.1 is not a Beta, it's a standard app update... very safe. BUT, if you're happy... pls stay that way
Thanks @TheRollbackFrog Yes, I did know that about 4.5.10 If I recall, Hasleo admin mentioned that update was just for some backup issues being created? Do you recommend 4.5.10? 4.5.00 has been solid for me, I'd appreciate your thoughts.
v4.5.1 addressed an isolated issue being experienced by an isolated user, it is as solid as v4.5 is. Apparently you don't have this isolated issue so for you, v4.5 is just fine... waiting for v4.8 release should be uneventful for you.
Appreciate your thoughts as always. I'll stick with 4.5 for now. 4.8 is offering the image mounting i read on their forum. I don't mind their current image access using their various modes, file mode, etc. I do mainly disk/partition backups, full and sometimes just check the C partition for the OS. Using Partition mode and restoring one partition such as C part has been perfect as well as entire disk restores. Hasleo has a winner, extremely reliable and a feature list not in many paid programs. It has become my main imaging app.
Appreciate the news and update announcements on Hasleo Backup Suite. Being temporarily disconnected while new ISP crews install and distribute FIBER here, I put Hasleo on hold until I get system back Online.
Yes, he has. Home Page - select task - Actions - Edit - Backup options - Space - Image retention policy - Edit.
Thank you, @aldist The display on my computer is very hard to read due to the color contrast, but your screenshot is very clear.
Hasleo Backup Suite V4.8 Released! What's new in this version: 1. Added feature to mount backup image files 2. Added feature to fix VSS issues 3. Improved the performance of checking image files 4. Fixed some bugs to improve product quality https://www.easyuefi.com/backup-software/backup-suite-free.html
Now all that's missing is the ability to protect the image destination directory, like Macrium's image guardian or Terabyte's ProtectIT. After all, what good is an image if it's not safe?
If there will be such a thing, it will not happen soon. For now, it is better to replicate to an external USB disk connected to the computer briefly only for the time of creation or recovery. From encryptors, the Korean developer's AppCheck seems to protect well.
There seems to be more than one search result mentioning AppCheck. Can you give me a link to the one you're talking about?
Ok. Thanks Froggie! As it turns out, the new SpyShelter Pro has this function as well. It's their file integrity module. It's not quite the same as Guardian or ProtectIt, where nothing can touch anything in the directory. Here, anything it marked as trusted will result in a prompt to allow or deny action.
Despite no household internet yet as we wait on a full fiber install here. I took it on myself to download and install this Newest Hasleo release. Onto one of my Windows 8.1 no less with a mere 4Gb memory. I am happy to share that the results are nothing short of phenomenal despite the crawl limitations of a unit tested with. Which will undoubtedly prove out to be top notch on a drive once deployed to a more current system to better support, and realize, this backup program's true full potential. Many thanks and so much more to EVERYONE who pushed the devs ahead and pitched in with their recommendations and issues which the end result as of this writing, really displays a very fabulous and exciting backup solution any way you cut it.
