    Video plays here as well.
Extensive list of filters and privacy settings in Firefox set to Strict.

When having issues, first have a look at the Logger.

Opera and Chrome are at the new version.
Firefox and Edge still at the old version.

1.58.0 is now available on Firefox as well.

After updating to 1.58.0, I noticed the same issue on one installation: AdGuard Dutch showed in filter lists, but the content was still EasyDutch.
On a second installation, filter lists didn't even show AdGuard Dutch, but still EasyDutch.
Both installations, I backed up to file, reset to default, and restored from backup file. This corrected the issues on both systems.

After back up to file, reset to default, and restore from file, my block count still shows 3.356M.

    Indeed.
Just tested in a VM snapshot and the count was preserved, even on 1.57.3rc1. :)
I now have the Adguard version.

I also couldn't play the video, and I have no idea what's blocking it. That's the thing, sometimes it's a bit difficult to figure this out. I tried to allow certain scripts but it didn't work. With uBlock disabled it obviously would.

In a crazy world I thought I was the only crazy. Thank god there are others like me!
I'm kidding for the facts I tried new Firefox profile and uBlock only extension both browser and extension default settings again only with uBlock disabled the video appears. I tried in test profile that I have made for experiments to make it play with NoScript only, again no luck.
Anyway it's not the end of the world yet Thank you all for the replies.

No trust me, you're not crazy. I'm also puzzled why I can't fix this problem, I tried to allow many scripts and I even disabled filterlists one by one. It's almost like How-To-Geek uses some kind of anti-adblocker system. But that doesn't explain why Stupendous Man can see the videos. And BTW, I had the problem on Vivaldi, Edge and Firefox.

nicolaasjan reported the videos played without issue as well.
So there is something different in what happens on JohnMult's and Rasheed187's systems compared to nicolaasjan's and my systems.

Exactly, that is what's so puzzling. And to clarify, with uBlock disabled and Vivaldi's adblocker enabled, I also get this problem. And disabling/enabling the ''I still don't care about cookies'' extension also didn't work. I know this extension can cause weird problems sometimes because it messes around with cookies.

I also cannot see the video on How-To-Greek. Using Vivaldi Developer tools I did an inspect. Trouble is I have no idea what it means :D

Didn't even think to use the Developer Tools, but it doesn't seem to give any clear hints, too bad.

So I guess there are 2 possible reasons:

    1. You additionally use an DNS-based blocker. What happens if you disable both uBO and the built-in adblocker?
    2. A request is blocked by a filterlist used both by uBO and the Vivaldi adblocker. I don't know if the latter has a logger - but uBO has. So carefully inspecting it should reveal the culprit.

Yes indeed. Never saw it this bad though, it's a poorly designed website in my view.

    1. No I don't use any other adblocker, except for uBlock Origin. I only use Vivaldi's adblocker if uBlock causes problems. And I never use them at the same time.
    2. This time this trick didn't help. I tried to allow all scripts that were blocked by Vivaldi's adblocker in uBlock, but it still wouldn't work.

BTW, do you are anyone else know if you can block autoplaying videos with the help of uBlock? I can't seem to stop autoplay with specialized extensions on Yahoo Finance, see links for examples. You need to scroll down in order for those annoying small videos to show up. I wonder if these folks who come up with these ideas are totally nuts.

I'm sorry, I don't know about blocking autoplay with the help of uBlock Origin.
I use Firefox permissions settings to block autoplay. That way, the Yahoo Finance videos do not autoplay.
You may be able to block the Yahoo Finance videos entirely, using uBlock Origin's element picker. You may have to try which of the offered filter options works best, and for all Yahoo Finance pages.

By the way, after opening the first Yahoo Finance page, I had to remove Yahoo cookies to be able to load the second page.

You haven't answered my question. What happens if you disable both adblockers? Does the site work in that case?

This is highly problematic as uBO might use other filters and/or scriplets than the Vivaldi adblocker. I suggest that you disable the latter, enable the uBO logger, load the site and present us the output of the logger.

even edge or a clean firefox profile are not able to load that video. i think its website issue, not browser.

"err_blocked_by_client" means blocked by browser or extension (content blocker in general)

running a new test here, its ublock lite here - i could not manage to see the video before, so they must have changed something.

just trying with only umatrix. so far:

    Code:
    howtogeek.com aax.amazon-adsystem.com xhr allow
    howtogeek.com adsninja.ca cookie allow
    howtogeek.com adsninja.ca frame allow
    howtogeek.com dgcbxsxpz6nta.cloudfront.net xhr allow
    howtogeek.com loader.unblockia.com xhr allow
    howtogeek.com securepubads.g.doubleclick.net script allow
    howtogeek.com securepubads.g.doubleclick.net xhr allow
    howtogeek.com t.unblockia.com other allow
    howtogeek.com video.adsninja.ca media allow

doubleclick is THE keyword, although i dont like it.

I'll reply: Using firefox and ublock, and disabling ublock, the LUME CUBE video will play. I don't use vivaldi so I can't comment on it.

To clarify, I was asking for some kind of global rule that could block autoplay on ALL websites. I see that the lists related to Annoyances don't seem to do anything. I did figure out that I can block autoplay on Yahoo Finance by blocking scripts related to Brightcove, but lately I got to see an ugly ''can't load script'' error message, which I tried to clean up with the element picker, but it didn't work. But all of a sudden I don't get to see it anymore, weird.

Like I already mentioned before, it happens in all browsers, Firefox, Vivaldi and Edge. In other words, HowToGeek doesn't respond well to adblockers.

I think you missed my post where I already mentioned it. Just like others said, without adblockers it works.

This is true I guess. The logger gave me the exact same info as Vivaldi's adblocker though. I didn't see any other scripts being blocked.

The exact same problem to the page https://www.makeuseof.com/nzxt-function-2-review/
MakeuseOf similar site to HowToGeek with the same stracture.Only solution again disable uBlock and even with Strict Protection in Firefox the video appears normally.
Edge with Strict Protection is not showing the video either site.

Yes same over here, I also can't play it. Normally, by allowing all of the blocked scripts (in the matrix) one by one, it should eventually work, but not this time. I wonder if Gorhill (maker of uBlock) could figure this one out.

I'm afraid no such option is offered with uBlock Origin. Also because no one else replied to mention such an option.
I am very happy with the Firefox option to set permissions to block autoplay. I don't know which other browsers offer a similar option.
