DriveImage boot

Hi everyone;

I'm currently trying to boot my pc from a relatively old Drive Image cdrom, since my new computer doesn't have any embedded floppy drive I could use to boot from floppies.

The trouble is I don't have any clue what characters to use to type in instructions on the caldera dos screen I land in when booting from the cdrom.

Can anyone tell me where to find a list of ascii key sequences so I can instruct my pc to execute DI on C when booting my system in this way?

Or any other workaround method I could use to get the job done?

For DI 2002 I use R:\English\Execute\pqdi... I don't know what version of DI you're using, but try the commands I posted (or some variation of drive letter) to see if they work for you.

To find the right drive letter, just do a DIR of various drive letters until you get the DI CD-Rom directory info, then run the commands I listed.

 

Sort of off topic but do you know if DI 2002 can read an image in ordr to restore or browse it, from DVD after you have first created it to HD and split it at 635 MB chunks and then burned it to DVD with Nero? I know it cannot write an image to DVD but wondering about reading from DVD in this way?

I never tried something such as that, but the DI Image Explorer maybe able to restore from a DVD image file since it sees everything that the Windows Explorere sees... if you put a DVD with a burned image file in your DVD drive, you should see it.

You might try using a DVD-RW to burn a split image file to to see if you can see and recover data from it.

Kind of ashamed to admit it, but I don't even know which keys to hit so as to write ":" on dos

Nevertheless, I just bought an external hard drive, and got a nice surprise discovering TrueImage was freely delivered with it.

I tried it, and - again really nice surprise - it allows one to create a bootable cdrom, which I did right away...

All right, that's taking the easier road, but....
